Different cars, same engine

A Camaro with a 3.1 V6 vs a Baretta with a 3.1 V6. Both bone stock. Both in equal state of tune. Both auto transmissions. Now I know the camaro is considered more of the sports car so therefore might have been givin some sort of engine/trans/gearing peformance over the baretta at the factory. But the baretta would seem like a lighter car. My money's still on the camaro, but hey, I've never seen this matchup race either.

Thanks,
MAx

I used to have a Z26. It wasn't exactly a quick car. It was nippy, but wasn't fast. I'd say the camaro would win because it has better gears and tranny. The beretta might beat the camaro off the line leaving the camaro to play catch up, but the camaro should be able to catch the beretta. It'd probably be a drivers race.

The berretta's motor is a bit different, has higher compression, different heads and a bit more hp. My money would be on The berretta, unfortunately.

my money is on the beretta because the beretta is a much lighter car n has i think like 15 more hp than the camaro 3.1 i say the berretta but then again the camaro may get him because of the berrettas poor 3rd gear

Poor third gear? Both the Beretta and Camaro share the same 1:1 gear ratio in third.

The gear may be the same but not the final drive . I know what you mean though.

i am pretty sure the Z26 did come with the 180 hp Quad 4, and the lesser model beretta got the 3.1 v6 rated at like 135hp or the weaker 4 banger

Well

I have done this race before and my money is on the Beretta. Mine beat 305's before no problem and some 350's. So I say Beretta by a landslide. Thirdgen's are slow stock and remember the first time I got in a race with what I thought wa a car with a bad exhaust leak (I was young then). The exhuast leak was actually a cam and the camaro annhilated me. But now safe to say I got most thirdgen's round here whooped. Good luck with your race man.
