beat a 2003 VW Jetta with a turbo and tcm

my best friend brandon was talkin all this crap about his new turbo jette and i was like you cant beat me.......... so we were going bowling that night we both had to stop and get gas so the whole way to the gas station we were going red light to redlight not getting anychance to really open it up... so it continued i stayed on his butt the whole time... so then we pull up to this one stop light where we were supposed to make a right but he was heading strait so i pulled up along side of him and said where are you going he says i aint takin this **** were going to Cemetary Rd which Ironically is where we all race on friday nights out in the booneys.... so in the 20 minutes that we were screwin around i started over heatein so when we got there my water temp was about 270 (my gauge only goes to 250, sunpro triple set you know the cheapos) so i sit and let my car cool down while i install a shift *** in a 4th gen ..... our witness..... so when i was done i started my car upand the temp went right back down to 220 so i said ok lets get it over with .. we left one of the guys at the finish line with the fourth gen took the other to the start line to flag us i stall up pull it all the way back to first and he dropps his arms i dump the brake and take off ... spin a lil thru first then grabslet it wind out to about 35 let off push it up to 2nd chirp second he comes up a lil i let it wind out a lil again push it into 3rd and stand on it. all in all i crossed the finish line about a car length ahead of him.............. that shut his mouth..... then when we were racing this ford pickup is behind us and looked like a cop to both of us so we just did a lap around the blocktuns out it was the dude that lived right up the road... the only guy on that street...

Nice kill. What mods were done to the Jetta, or is it stock? How much boost?

If it's stock then it's jsut the 1.8T running about 8-9 psi of boost, not much.

Yeah, traction control has sensors near the wheels that sense when the car is loseing traction, it basicly retards the spark untill the sensor reads the tire has traction....It does slow it down a bit, enless you have a high performance drag car where it'll slow it down for maybe a second, then its just gone lol.

A second is WAY too long in a drag race. Actually, no matter what, any type of traction control will slow a car down.

Exactly, 99% of the time, you can launch better then the traction control can if you just practice a few times.
