350 SBC vs lt1?
I have a buddy around here with a 94 z28 that has an lt1 slightly modded in it, hes been asking for a race but im to afraid to lose so i keep stalling, so i thought id ask yous who might win.
I have an 84 z28, built 350 with speed pro everything, lifters, rods, pistons, etc, its bored .30 over and i have the headers, catback all that small essential stuff done already, 750 holley double pumper, HEI distributor and coil, etc... Its never been on a dyno yet but just takeing a wild guess with the info provided, who might win givin the drivers are both to the same ability.

There is no way to tell what kind of power you have without knowing the intake design, cam specs, heads, and compression ratio.
By the way your B&M shifter has the long shifter handle for a truck not the short one that comes for thirdgens. I have a brand new short handle still in package if your interested.

Ill have to dig up the specs on the cam and heads here shortly.
As for the shifter, i want it that way, i dont like the short ones "for 3rd gens" even though their only about half an inch shorter...

Did you have one on your car already? Because I had the long on mine and the shorter one felt better the long one just felt weird.

Yea, i had the short one on, i bought the kit i still have it laying around here somewhere.. i have longer then normal arms i guess, it felt like i had to reach for it, the longer one just sits right where my arm would be positioned normaly, i like it

I've seen some pretty lazy LT1's.
Unless your running stock, what the h*ll is there to be afraid of?!

LT1s aren't that special, if you have decent heads and a halfway decent aftermarket cam w/ the supporting mods like headers/catback, etc you can take one. They only make around 250 rwhp stock, or around 300 hp at the crank. Other than the reverse flow cooling and a decent factory EFI setup they're just a SBC anyway. Heads are decent but nothing special stock, stock cam is fairly mild. You can easily match or beat the LT1s power output w/ an average decently setup carbed 350 w/ mild supporting mods.
