06 stang vs. 89 formy

Think open airport parking lot, not at the track.

06 stang, V6, cold air and full exhaust with a tune.

06 stang: its stick, and no suspension mods to bring power to pavement but the car is light and revs to no end.

89 formy, 355 top with ported base, ASM runners, ported plenum, 58mm tb, hooker super comps, full 3 inch exhaust, no cats, AFPR, MSD ignition, etc.

89 formy: AFR 195cc heads, LT4 hot cam, 30lbs injectors, and the suspension to hook, grab, and go with a 700r4 and a 9 bolt. Unfortunately, the car is heavy and holds alot of chrome moly underneath and only revs to 6K-ish.

What the chances that I would win assuming the I'm off the bottle and probably can only muster a 12.8 quarter mile at the track? Just curious before I lose two hundred bucks.

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

You think you're going to lose to a V6 mustang with a 355 that has AFR heads and a LT4 hotcam?

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

I have heard that the mustangs are light as hell and the V6 has over 300 horses stock. I don't know about the hp rating, my GTP has a supercharged 3800 and only makes 260 horses but if the rating on the mustang is close to true, and that is wheel horse, and not crank, I could see how it could be a threat especially with a good stick shift driver and a powerband that never sees any dips.

I understand that it looks to be like I should have him but technology works against me and I'm not familiar with the newer ford engines. Is 300 hp in those V6's right? Is it wheel or crank? Anyone know what they will run with intake, headers, full exhaust and a decent tune? That might give me an idea if I can take him down.

P.S. I forgot to mention that even though the trans in my car is built with Art Carr internals and a corvette servo with trans go shift kit, I'm on a 2200 stall..... Its a long, long story.

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

Where are you getting 300 horses from?
They don't do that stock at the wheels or crank. With everything he has he might make 300 crank horse... he'd be lucky to push 250 wheel horse.

I dont see how it would even be close. You would stop all over a v8 06 mustang with those heads. Hell id say you would have a good run with a stock 5.0 with your list of mods.

210 hp stock for a v6 mustang, I doubt an exhaust, cai and a tune will even put up a fight against your formula, I say go for it.

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

The 2011 on up V6 Mustangs have over 300hp(at the crank) but not the older ones, Either way you should stomp a V6 Mustang unless your tune is way off.....

Mark.

An AFR headed 355 vs a 2xx HP V6...is this a serious question?

Dude, my wife has an auto 2006 Stang Vert, CAI, that's it. My 92' Z28 is stock with 3.42's and it whips her all day.

vert is heavier... however I still don't see a bolt on 210 hp stock car breaking past 250 crank horse.

But the fact is that my car is stock. And they make about 254 HP at the crank.

LOL, that's what I'm thinking. A few months back, I beat an 2012 5.0 mustang off the line at a stop light. In the end he ended up beating me.

I beat an '05 GT, an '06 GT and Even an '07 GT C/S (California Special) in my Original '92 Z28 with 3.23s.

The Mustangs Had 300hp & 320lbs of torque & I had 245hp & 345lbs torque, all 3 GTs were stock, mine has Flowmaster 80's Series 3" Catback, And I Pulled out the Win by at least 15ft Everytime.

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

Lol, why does google or bing not seem to exist to some people?? The mustang has 210 HP and a 4.0 boat anchor for an engine from '05-'10. In 2011, they got the new 3.7 V6 with 305 HP and can put up a better fight, but you'd probably still win from the sounds of what you have. You would beat him with a stock 305 TPI, not to mention a modded 355 lol. Even the new 305 HP mustang can only do high 13's at best, the older ones are in 15's.

Re: 06 stang vs. 89 formy

If God is feeling merciful, that 'stang MAYBE has 200 horses at the wheels. On no planet does that thing come close to even a 13 second run. Easiest 200 bucks you'll ever make.
