decideing to grab and IROC
Im tired of transams and want a t-topped IROC,now what is the best year to get? is 87 really the fastest ones? i want a TPI car no exeptions i don't want one with any bondo nor any major performance mods,this will be daily driven.
what can i expect to pay?

Car: 1990 Iroc Z Convertible
Engine: LB9
Transmission: 700R4
I thought the 90 Irocs were the fastest sice this was the first year of SD(which added 5 extra hp over the maf cars). It will be minimal as Daz said.

I doubt you'll find much difference between any of the years but i'd try to get an '88-90. My pick would a '90 because of the interior update and SD. The '87's seem to be the slowest of the bunch.

Axle/Gears: 3.45
i dont have any problems with my 87 iroc..i mean when i bought it it was pretty rough...but i brought it back to life... i paid $4500 and it had like 120,000kms on it...5spd, ttops, (still out on the ci of the motor though)..all in all..im proud of my 87..i like it..
just go for what you like and dont spend more then $7grand..

Engine: 421, LS1, 327Turbo & 383
Transmission: T-56, 4L60E, T5 & 4L60
Axle/Gears: 4:10, 3:42, 2:73 & 3:27
The 90 Iroc is the fastest and the most rare, only like 4000 or so 1990 Irocs made.

Come on Paul...give the 87's some credit! It was the first year for the L98 in the f-body, of course as the years go on they're gonna improve it.
To be honest, every car behaves different. There is no real hard line as to which is faster. At the end of the day a 350 is a 350, and with minimal mods they can all be made to perform. My advice when going to find a car is just get one in your price range and go from there.

i paid 5400 for my 90 roc, needed new brakes right away, other then tranny linkage the car has been solid, had 230000 kms hwen bought, somehting around that
