My Alternator died!

Yeah it's gone...

I went to Canadian Tire today and they said they can sell me a rebuilt one for $100 or a brand new BOSCH one for $150 with a 5-year warranty if I give them my old alternator...

please let me know what you guys think. I'm going to try and tackle the swap on my own, anything I should know? Is it a simple take off the old belt, unscrew the old alternator, plug in the new one, and that's it?

anybody free tomorrow night and want to lend a hand?

Please let me know about the alternator because I want to buy one tomorrow. I want to go with the bosch...

i have one here for $50..I rebuilt it myself..Everything on the inside is the same as whats inside the new $150 .I wouldnt trust a store bought alternator anyways.Or you could rebuild yours yourself, its very easy. The kit cost about $50 .Lemme know if you need help

took off the alternator, boy was that easy

anyhow, i flipped it over and there's a sticker that says "remanufactured by AC DELCO" with a serial #, which makes me think it's not the original one anyway...

so off to buy the bosch one :P

I probably would've taken Daz's alternator... His distributor is still working fine.

Three batteries over a winter/spring Easy? Damn... I'm running a Canadian Tire battery in my beater truck (came with the truck) and it has been going for over two and a half years now, and I expected it to die right after I bought the truck. Hell I've jump started at least five different cars with it, and let it sit for several months, and it has never complained or needed charged.

Of course, now that I've said that....

ha ha I'd bet that it has been in there well over three years. It looked old when I bought the truck. Maybe they'll give me a free replacement some day for having the longest lasting battery.

Lady: "Oh no we left the lights on!"
Big goofy moron: "No problem!"

That commercial drives me nuts.
