hood clearance for a 350 TPI to replace a 305 CFI?
Hey, I am looking to put a 350 with the stealth ram into my 82 Z-28. I have the original hood and 305 CFI so I was wondering what I should do about the hood. It has those little cool air induction flaps so if i took that stuff out, i would have 2 holes in my hood. Any suggestions about what I could do with that hood, or should I just get a new one. Also I read that the stealth ram will fit under a standard TPI hood with some clearancing, but will it fit under mine?
Thanks for any help

We did basically what you are doing (actually twice) and the first time we went TPI, we just removed all the air induction parts under the hood (all should unbolt if memory serves me right) and then, because we had a few spots on the hood that were cracked, just took fiberglass and closed off the vents. On the carb one we swapped, we just left them open. You will not have any clearance problems.
You could probably sell your stock hood and for the same $$$ get a regular Z hood also.
