opinions on my setup

I haven't driven the car yet, i've had some gliches and not much time to work on it. But my setup is:
355, World S/R Torquer heads (2.02/1.6 170cc), 24 lbs injectors, holley afpr, SuperRam plenum, runners, and base, 58 mm TB, MSD 6a, Hooker 1 5/8 headers, hooker cat-back. I'm not sure of the cam, didn't build the bottom end, and i dont' want to swap cams until i go roller, but it is kinda lumpy and i know it's not stock. That's the best description i can give of that. I have a 700r4, 2,500 stall, and 3.73 posi. Does this setup sound like a decent one? I know the heads aren't the greatest but they are better than stock. Thanks!!!

Well, without knowing about the cam, it's hard to say. It's a pretty important piece of the puzzle. But the rest of the setup looks well matched. Depending on the cam you have, those heads are the weak link in the setup, but they are better than stock. What type of rpm's are you shifting at?

You were just the guy i was hoping would respond. I plan on shifting at around 5,800 to 6,300.....

My main goal is to have a fun car to drive, and i want to give 4th gens a run for their money.

I will be switching to roller this upcoming spring. I went ahead and upgraded to hardened pushrods and guideplates so i don't have to run self aligning rockers. I don't know what cam would work best with my setup though. I think the LPE219 is too big.

The reason I went with the S/R Torquers was because i already had them. Otherwise i'd like to switch to AFR's at some point. What size would you suggest?

I don't think the LPE 219 is too big, but it's personal preference. I know the LPE219 works very well with the SR from personal experience and it was designed for it by the same designer as the SR, Lingenfelter. THAT is the main reason I got it. Also, after hearing all the corvetteforum guys rave about this combo (SR/LPE219/AFR 190's), I thought it was a great streetable, daily drivable, fast, torquey, and fun setup. It is ALL that. I like it. Now that my car is not my daily driver anymore, I wouldn't mind some more power and less drivability, but this is still a great setup. I think it has the potential for 12.5's @ 110 mph in the 1/4 after it's tuned. I ran a G-Teched 12.90 @ 114.4 mph and I hooked up the Craig Moates software and found it running very rich in spots and detecting knock and retarding timing. I have a long way to go with the tuning and will probably end up switching to speed density over MAF in the winter. The Vette's are running 11.5's-low 12's with this setup when tuned.

I shift at 6000-6250 rpm, I'm still trying to find the right shift point and just starting the tuning process. The Vette guys tell me 5800 rpm will probably end up being my best shift point, but it just feels like it wants to rev a little further. I you want a smaller cam, I wouldn't go too much smaller, you need to take advantage of the SR's breathing capabilities up to around 6000 rpm. But it is personal preference.

I'm looking at Summit's catalog right now. If you want smaller than the LPE219 (219/219 w/ .525/.525 lift), it looks like Comp has a 212/212 w/ .440/.440 lift and a 218/218 with .454/.454 lift, both the High Energy Series. Comp also has a 212/218 w/ .488/.495 which they advertise for LT1's. Crane has a 216/216 w/ .454/.454 lift (non-roller I believe) and is advertised with a 1800-4400 rpm range. These numbers are close to the LPE219 without getting too much smaller.

I'm not TOO familiar with your heads, but with some porting or like you said, AFR's in the future, you will get more power. Maybe someone here knows how well your heads would work with the cams mentioned above?

That sounds very close to my old setup, accept I had a Lunati roller cam, 218/224 dur & .489 lift the car ran a best of 13.19 @ 103 with an Ed Wright Chip. I shifted at 5800 & it ran slower if I shifted higher or lower than that. BTW I still have the Lunati Cam if you are interested.
