Finally finished my new motor....No more TBI!!!

I finally finished everything up today. I've been building it during my spare time for the last couple of months, and have spent the last two weeks working non-stop every day. This is the first engine I assemble, and the first time I jump into a project this large. I've been working mostly by myself these last two weeks, and finally finished everything this evening. I'll try to post some pics when I get the camera back.

By the way, this has been a very low budget buildup. I've managed to cover the cost of the engine, tpi related parts, chip burning equipment, everything pretty much...for about $800 or so.

Heres my setup...need to update my sig...

Ported 416s
LT4 Hot Cam
Ported TPI manifold
SLP runners
52mm Throttle Body
24 lb injectors
Walbro 255
Hooker Comps

I already had a 6 speed and 3.73s, along with a bit of suspension work.

Anyway, I was pretty nervous when I went to start it today. Turned the key, and the thing would turn over fine, but wouldn't start. After a while of checking things, I am sure I have spark, so now I'm thinking that the injectors are probably not firing. I don't smell a hint of gas at all. I'll be checking my wiring tomorrow for the injectors and ecm grounds (I repinned my TBI harness to TPI).

I picked up a pair of eeproms, and will be busy tuning this week(hopefully).

I'm really looking forward to getting this thing running soon. I've been waiting for it forever.

Make sure to check timing before digging for bigger problems. Check to see if the distributor is off 180 degrees. Nice setup though.

Well, I don't need to worry about breaking in the cam. Its a hydraulic roller. I do need to break the engine in though. I've read through GMs break in instructions for new engines, and I was speaking to KingTal0n about it yesterday. I'm pretty sure I'll be ok on breaking it in, its pretty straightforward.

I have school most of today, so I'll go work on the car this evening. Hopefully I can get it to start.

hey i had the same problem, it turned out to be the oil pressure sensor that goes right on top of the oil filter, it turns out it was bad and it wouldnt let the fuel pump stay on to get the right amount of fuel that was needed to start the car, check it out, i changed it and when i went to start my car it started right up

good luck.

Well, while I was turning the engine over trying to get it to fire, I ran into another problem. Engine stopped turning over. Finally got that fixed. Still won't start though. I started a new post about this....

Well, got my camera back. Here are some old pics from before I started doing anything to the car. Pretty dirty. I haven't had a chance yet to take pics of the new setup. I'll do so tomorrow hopefully.

Converted to NISSAN hugh? I see you still have a TPI setup as wallpaper on your laptop, still hang around a Thirdgen forum, still own a Thirdgen, and whats worse, you do it under a new screename so that no one finds out.

No, not really. Your still very much in withdrawal. There is only way to fix your condition. You need a SBC.

Hey, thanks for the help with the maps. I appreciate it.
