Throttle Body Sticking

Car is an 86 Iroc with TPI. We just got done replacing the intake manifold gasket so we had the tpi unit off. Well now the thing that moves when you press on the throttle is sticking a little bit. That causes the car to idle higher than normal, and sometimes it wont go back down. Why is it sticking and what can I do to fix it? Any help is appreciated. If you guys dont know what I am talking about I can take a picture of the part.

Check for a slightly bent throttle body shaft. My Holley sticking a little every now and then at low RPMs (just above idle), and it was the little lever on the back of the TPS dragging on the side of the throttle body. Coupl of small washers as spacers solved that problem. Could always add a throttle return spring, but that;s addressing the symptom instead of fixing anything (and would probably just be a temporary fix anyway).

Hope this helps a little bit. Good Luck!

Send a message via AIM to xtremeirocz
i had the exact same prob on my 86, it was a small vacuum line binded between the fuel rail front crossover and the upper plenum. the line was ruptured and bleeding off vacuum making it idle high
