730 ECM memcal conflict
I have searched the archives and come up with conflicting information.
I am in the process of installing an SD TPI system onto the 400 sbc in my 67 Chevy truck.
Does the memcal for a 730 ECM have to be from a V-8 powered 730 ECM car or can it come from another 90-92 vintage V-8 ECM, say one from a TBI car?
I would like to have the limp home mode work if/when I need it since I will be burning many different chips to get my vehicle dialed in.

ECMs are specific for transmission, engine, injectors, etc. Sounds like you're going to have to learn how to burn a chip.

It has to come from a 730 equipped V8 car. meaning an F-body. The p/n is on TGO somewhere.
The TBI ecm uses a different memcal that does not have the KS circuitry. Which is the reason you need the correct memcal.
You'll need a chip modded with the correct injector and CID settings.
Plus whatever smog delete you have done turned off in the code too. Learning to do it yourself is the best way in the long run.
Start lurking on the DIY-Prom board for a while.

I am using a Moates G3 adapter to use my own custom burned chip optimized for the 400 inch motor, my cam , bigger injectors and to eliminate VATS since I do not have that capability in the 67 truck.
I need to get the right memcal in there so I will have the limp home mode in case I need it but I dont' want to buy a TPI specific memcal if I don't have to. TBI memcal's are easy to come by used.

You've answered your own question.
How would the limp fuel for a 2 injector tbi hope to work with an 8 injector port setup?
V8 memcals of any kind are about impossible to find used where I live.

Not sure where Bakersfield is, but if you're in the US then get them new for $50 from gmpartsdirect.com
And limp mode between the 305 and 350 are different.

AUJP memcal p/n
Sorry, but that's funny. There's actually two of them. One near each coast. Have you heard of Korn? They're from here.
I actually live in Green Acres. (honest)
And Pixley hasn't changed too much.

? Never heard of 'em...
I'd stick with the TPI MEMCAL, unless you want to risk a Twisted Transistor. For fifty bucks (or perhaps less on ebay) it's maybe the best route. Sorry I can only offer '165 MEMCALs.
