Something is majorly wrong???
I don't know what is wrong with my car. For some reason it has lost alot of power. Mostly in the higer RPM's 3500 and above. Say I am going 45 miles an hour, if i put the pedal to the floor, my car downs shifts and the car slows down. It kind of feels like i have the brake on while trying to accelerate but it only does this on higher rpm's. Although i have noticed a major power drop all around. I took apart my intake to see if maybe it was clogged and it all seemed good. Has this ever happened to any of you and or do you know what my prpblem could be. I have no idea what is wrong.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIEATED.

how many miles on this car?I would replace it ..if its blocked. To ck if its blocked you can do a visual check ..take it off look inside it see if its melted or damaged if it is you may have a sensor or computer problem that needs repair also. While its off wire the exhaust pipe up (so it doesn't drag on the ground)drive the car ...see if the problem is gone

Definately your cat. I had the exact same thing with my V6. Id also change my O2 sesor while replacing the cat. The O2 sesor was the reason my cat got all messed up to begin with.

if you have a vacuum gauge hook it up to manifold vacuum....where the fuel pres.reg is connected is fine, then with the car in park slowly rev the engine up to about 2500 rpms ...watch the gauge ...it should stay steady or rise ...if it drops lower, the cat or exhaust is blocked...this test is more for an expereinced wrench...but a dam good one

I had similiar problems minutes before my fuel pump left this world. Hopefully, it's nothing that serious, but it sounds like a fuel flow problem(filter may be clogged). At the time the car had TES headers and Flowmaster catback, with a 3" i.d. straight pipe where the cat used to live(I was waiting for a new cat from Jeg's), so I knew I wasn't having a problem with exhaust restrictions.
Also, a few month's before the pump failed, in an extended fit of absentmindedness I allowed the fuel level to drop well below "E". The result was: the engine hesitated when moving away from a stop, and going around one corner I uncovered the fuel pickup, with the result that the engine almost stalled, downshifted from second to first, and accelerated very poorly.

I agree with the cat theory. My cat clogged up on me about six monthe ago.It would accelerate fine if you were slow, but over 4,000 it acted like I threw an anchor out the window! If you dont change it soon, (I waited untill it wouldnt run) it will get to the point where it will not run at all,and this can cause a fire as well due to a huge buildup of heat. Then it blew the manifold gaskets when I tried to force it to run. Save yourself time&money, replace it now. This was just my experience, but it sounds exactly like the problem you are having.
