thinkin about using a msd-6al box

I have a pretty mildly built 355 tpi with 10.3 to 1 comp. ratio and crane powermax roller cam, roller rocker arms ported and polished vortec heads port matched tuned port, custom prom well im thinkin of using a msd 6al box to help out the stock ignition its an just woundering if this would help out on my 89 firebird it has the small cap HEI with the electronic advance .....would this help my ignition any? thanks

I've heard from at least two sources that for our cars, they're not a real improvement. Not exactly what I wanted to hear (since I have one), but there ya go. Apparently the ignitions on our cars are fairly decent, so unless you're running boost or N2O (which increase cylinder pressure, which can "blow out" a normal spark), there's just not a hell of a lot to be gained by adding one.

(This of course assumes that your stock ignition is working as designed!)

I'd guess that you might see better gains with a different mod, one that addresses whatever your current "bottleneck" may be...

I have run the MSD and ACCEL both in the past and my car seemed to run a little smoother and gas mileage increases a little.
