13's possible on stock intake/heads????

I am wondering if my car will make it into the 13's in the quarter mile. I have a 1989 350 TPI motor (bored .030" over). I have a gutted air box with two 5 inch ram-air tubes and two K&N filters. I have the stock TPI setup, except I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I have stock reconditioned heads with a radius valve job and new springs. I have a Crane Compucams camshaft (214/220 duration @ .050"). I also have Hooker headers, a high-flow 3 inch cat, and a Hooker cat-back. I have a 700R4 tranny with a TCI Breakaway torque converter, an aluminum driveshaft, and a 3.23 Posi rear. Will this setup with the stock throttle body, plenum, runners, manifold, and heads see at least 13.99 in the quarter mile? Any help/suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

It's a possiblity! A friend of mine has an IROC with a stock 350 in it.... only thing he's changed is the injectors and he put on a 75 shot of NOS! This past Friday he ran it at the track and WITH the 75 shot of NOS he ran a 14.1!!

I think your there. My car has run low 14s (14.2-14.4) at 99-100 mph, I had horrible traction which led to the relative high et's compared to mph. This is on a 89 iroc L98 with k&n's, airfoil, removed plenuum walls, afpr, shiftkit, 3.42's, removed maf screens, cat back exhaust, removed CAT. I'm pretty sure that it will run a high 13 with some sticky tires.
Since then I've installed slp headers, underdrive pullies, removed AIR system, and I'm in the process of burning a ARAP based prom.
Your car seems fairly comparable to mine but you have the cam and torque converter which should make it noticebly faster than mine. If you can hook up I'm pretty sure youll run a 13.

If the car is tuned, and you can hook a little...yeah easily.
What is your fuel pressure at?
Timing?
What is your stall?
Port that plenum(very easy) pull screens on mass air,....attacking the intake as a whole gives best results....a cold air setup helps too/along with foil...any one ofthese intake mods by themselves net very little..but all of them combined is where the gains is at.....work on your launch..if you can get that car off the line fairly strong, you'll be runnng good.

Check my sig , its definately possible . Play with the timing and fuel pressure at the track . My timing ended up best at 12* initial . Generally 8-10* works best for the TPI cars though .

You ever go to US 41 dragway?

If my '89 Formula 350 with a slipping trans, timing outta whack,a crappy 60ft times can run a 14.20@99, then your can run a 13.XX if you have it tuned properly and get it to hook off the line. I also have a Edelbrock intake, SLP exhaust, etc.

I've done it.
I pocket ported the 083 casting heads, and ported the plenum. Stock cam/valvetrain, base, runners, chip, trans, stall, and crappy radials. Check out my web page for more details.

I don't think that you will have any trouble doing it.

My stall speed is about 2000-2200 RPM. I'm not sure what I'm going to set the fuel pressure at. I was thinking 48 PSI or so. I do not plan on running nitrous oxide either. Thanks for all the replies.

I did it on a 355 with an SLP cam mild upper intake porting, 305 heads, and a good 700r4 on 2.77 gears. pulled a 13.9

I had all kinds of other stuff done like removing th A/C, fibeglass hood, Headers, Flowmasters, all the free stuff, bumped up the fuel pressure, larger Throttle Body. and so on. If I would have had a set of Vortec 350 heads and a 3.42 rear I would say I could have pulled a 13.5 easily. My gear hurt my car so BAD it wasn't funny.

i put a th 350 in with 3200 stall, i can run low 13's all day with stock heads, cam, intake, i have headers, a chip, a thermostat, and some bolt ons, my friend has an 87 355 stock rebuild with hardly a few of the free mods and a chip and runs 13.9's, some people's cars don't seem to be running right to run 14's, maybe it's the fact that some 700 r4's leave you stuck in third when you are full throttle and you run out of power

High 12's...I don't know about that. Only if it is done right. If you have everything suspension: lowering springs, upper and lower control arms, so forth and so on. But, as far as mid to low 13's, definitely.
