A Few IAC Questions
What and where is my IAC?
And will cleaning it help my performance/mileage?
------------------
1980 Camaro, '88 Police 350 engine, Headers, full exhaust, completely redone, my baby!
1988 Iroc-Z L98, MSD 6a, Accel coil, K+N's, Airfoil, Coolant Bypass, Flowmaster, Gears, Late model Bose, I like the 80 better

Your IAC is on the lower half of the throttle body on the passenger's side. It has a square, four wire connector going to it. The IAC is used by the ECM to regulate the air coming into the engine at idle. Cleaning it always helps but unless you are suffering from poor idle quality than it probably hasn't reached the point where it would be a problem. Mileage, no improvement.

In other words, right here:
If you do remove it for cleaning, make sure the pintle is fully retracted againast the return spring before you install it and torque the IAC to the proper specs. (13 ft/lb for '85-'89 , 30 in/lb for 1990-on.)
