air intake question

Hi, i have a MAF 350 TPI trans am. It only has an aftermarket cone filter attached to the stock system. What is the cheapest and best way to construct a new aluminum or plastic tubular system down to the fog light area? Or is there another place to route the filter for better cold air flow? Any pictures of your systems would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jake

Re: air intake question

This is mine, it's just a 3" universal intake I got from Autozone, I think it was like $30. I've since cut it down, to move the filter closer inboard.

Re: air intake question

Thanks that is what I'm looking to do. But in a way wouldn't the air in the engine compartment be hot? I think that hot air going in the motor wouldn't help much would it? What i am really wanting to do is just like both of you two's just instead of putting the filter where it is, run another pipe or hose down to the underside. Would that help the air temp? And last question....is it better to have the MAF closer to the TB or the air filter?

Thanks for your help

Re: air intake question

Ok i found some extra 3 inch exhaust pipe and i put it together with my system. But i cant hook up the MAF. Is there a way to disable it? Or just not have it hooked up?

Re: air intake question

This is gonna sound stupid but since my intake is just pure flowing and no MAF. It idles a lot better and the throttle response has no delay. Driving it on interstate. if you give it half throttle the thing just gets up and goes. Punching it of the line or barely goin you just hear that "blower hiss" coming from the filter. It revs up a lot quicker. Wat will doing this hurt on my motor or computer or even fuel milage
