Need help choosing right cam!
ok i've had my 85iroc z28 since graduating high school my first car but thats besides the point. i building my second engine now to put in place because the first engine was a budget build. now i'm going all out with the parts i really want. i currently have a comp cam cs-260-ah-12
212/212 duration at .050
.444/.444
112 lobe
my question is can i expect a huge increase in power/torque with Edelbrock High-Flo TPI Systems plenum and manifold. i'm debating on either Trick Flow® Super 23 (TM) Street/Strip Cylinder Heads for Small Block ChevroletCylinder Heads
or
World Products Sportsman II Heads
Cylinder Heads
which one do you think would be better?
i already got super comp hooker headers
full billet msd 6a box/coil 2 blaster/ distributor
crane cam 1.5 aluminum roller rockers
x-pipe with cut-outs with 40 series flowmasters.
i've been looking at other comp cams aswell. i'm just trying to get the best hp/torque gains with the set up i'm trying to put together?

Re: Need help choosing right cam!
What engine do you have?? Is it still a 305? anyway I'll just assume it is for the moment. As for the heads you picked out the intake runners are too big. You should need nothing more than 180cc (Personally I think a Vortec head swap is perfect for LB9's). There are better cams out there too. Look some of the TPIS cams for early TPI. The edelbrock lower intake is a good idea. The runners may gain you some horsepower but im not sure enough to offset the cost on a 305.

its a 350 4 bolt main with all forged componets, with 64cc heads puts out 9:1 compression. another problem is i live in cali and we have strict smog regulations but i got a connection with fixed smogs to play it safe if it doesn't pass, so thats why i'm kinda what if on the cam.
but is .444 of lift be considered mild/aggresive or just average?
i know friends with other muscle cars what have .500 to .600 of lift and there cars beasts.

It's too mild of a cam to buy, your stock cam is about the same, you need something with a split profile, higher lift (keep the duration short) to wake it up,
Looks like you have a "tamed" carb'ed cam selected.
I assume you're running the stock 083 heads? If not, what heads are you running?

GM hot cam w/ 1/6 full roller rockers...
I run that cam with the same heads only my motor's a 383 w/ TPI. The cam is pretty mean.

Re: Need help choosing right cam!
is it flat tappet or is it a roller tappet block?if roller id go with the gm performance hot cam or the gm performance 350 hi po cam lift:.539/.558, duration:234/242,lobe seperaton is:112.the hi po may be to much for your combo though just a thought.if flat tappet id go comp cams xe 268 or 274.
