bought my first camaro chip and starter question
so its an '88 tpi irok camaro with a 305 and a shift kit 700r4 auto trans which i know for a fact theres a shift kit for how hard it shifts. the guy i bought it from claims that its chiped how do i know? and when you chip something do you leave the device pluged into something and if you do where would i find it? also he said its bored 30 over im sure it is because of how powerful it is i raced a '70s camaro on I-5 with a 383 stroker and was killing it.
so he sold it to me for a grand it needed body work and what not which ill be posting on here. and had a clank which was the starter bought the starter jacked up the car realized im gonna have to take out the pipe idk if its the header or not didnt really look lowered it and started doin the body work first lol. how do you change the starters? and is it normal for the pipes on these to be 2 inches off the ground maybe 2 and a half???
thanks for your input and answers

Re: bought my first camaro chip and starter question
another question if i took the chip out just to see how much of a difference it makes could it hurt the motor? theres 9000 miles on motor, tranny, and rear end idk if it makes a difference. the only thing that ive ever seen chiped was a 7.3 diesel so im not sure about gas.

Re: bought my first camaro chip and starter question
take a pic of that pipe by the starter if you can. The only thing "pipe"-like down there that I can think of is a header, which I have, and if thats the case, then no, you don't have to remove it. You might have to wiggle around the starter once its unbolted from the block to get it out.
