Can any of you 700R4 guys help with this?

I have a trans with a reluctor ring electronic sender on the tailshaft and have installled it ,works great with speedo uplugged. But the old trans had a gear driven electric sending unit. If I plug in the speedo it reads 110 mph at 10 MPH and shuts the fuel down. Anyone know a way of fixing this without putting anotherr tranny in. This tranny has already been modded.

Switch gears. Removal of the tail section is necessary to do this.

The reluctor ring is only pressed on there. Its a little harder to remove since it doesn't "give" like the softer plastic gears, but it will come off. The holes needed for the speedo gear clip are still there, so you can use the plastic gears no problem. I have converted a few of these shafts for use with plastic gears. If you try some method of hammering the ring off, make sure you support the end of the output shaft so it can't move rearward. To much rearward pressure on the output shaft may damage the snap-ring inside the tranny that holds the shaft in place. If you had a cuttoff wheel, you could probably put an incision in the side of the ring it then it would come right off. Just don't damage the shaft.
