Convertor doesn't fit??
I tried to mate the trans and engine finally, and it wouldn't bolt up (of course). So, I investigated and found that the Edge convertor has "ears" that are too big?? Now it's stuck on there, and I can't seem to get it off. Am I going to have to send it back and have them grind off the ears?? At least so it'll fit in the flexplate.
Thanks..
Thanks..

I see 2 possibilities from the picture
1) they gave you the wrong converter
2) the converter requires a different flywheel
Maybe the place you got it from sells a flywheel that fits it.

Looks like a 153 tooth flywheel. Get a 168 tooth and call it a day.
Regardless, before you put everything in place, lay the flywheel down and set the convertor on top of it to ensure the bolt holes line up. You'd be surprised even with the SFI plates sometimes the holes need tweaking to get the bolts through.

IHI, I was wondering if a 168 tooth flexplate would work. Actually, I didn't know what ours had stock (I guess 153), so time for a new one. May as well get one SFI approved too.
Thanks!!
As an aside, I put it on the other side to make sure the bolt holes line up (they did), I never tried the correct side to make sure it fit in the diameter, I just assumed it did.. Now I know better.

I never gave it a second thought about the holes lining up with the convertor/flywheel. Couple years ago a buddy tried installing an aftermartket convertor on his stock flywheel and we ended up having to massage the openings a little to get the bolts through.
Then last year when we were building the truck we had a CSI flywheel and tried to bolt up a 9" TCI convertor, same deal, holes were off AND not big enough for the convertor bolts, so we had to drill them also.
Got lucky with mine, just a B&M SFI flexplate and this TCI 9" convertor had everything line up, BUT again, had to drill the holes in the flexplate since the convertor bolts were bigger. Cant wait till I can affford my 8" BTE, helped put 2 of these in this spring and everything worked like a champ.

IHI, got a TCI 168 tooth flexplate, and everything went right in. I still have to send Edge an email to inform them of this. I don't think they know about this little problem. Can't wait to get this thing back on the road/strip.
