need help on pullin tranny!

ok i just got a new engine in my car and got it running but wheni put tranny fluid in it then it didnt wanna even try to go in gear so i came up with the conclusion that it is the pump. but now when i go to pull the tranny i am having troubles tryin to figure out how to get the tranny lines off.i am workin on jackstands since my shop isnt finished being built yet so i dont have a tranny jack or anything. im having to use a floor jack and i cant let it down but so much before the distributor hits the firewall. can anyone give me a few pointers on how to pull this tranny since this is my first time pulling one out of a camaro? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: need help on pullin tranny!

If you can not get the transmission down far enough, if it is the distributor cap that is hitting then take it off, if it is the distributor itself then you will have to pull the exaust down, then the lines will be in the open and you can get them off. hope this helps

Re: need help on pullin tranny!

yea everything was put back togather like it should be. we put the tranny back on the engine while it was out of the car so we put the torque converter on the tranny and put it up on the engine but when we was bolting it down it popped twice on us so i think i may have broke something in the pump.

How much space was there between the torque converter and the flexplate when you bolted the bellhousing up, before you bolted the torque converter.

Re: need help on pullin tranny!

I'm guessing there wasn't any space because the converter wasn't seated correctly, and now you've killed the pump.

Re: need help on pullin tranny!

could be. i did notice one thing. i went from a 305 to a 350 block and the flex plate is bigger on the 350 could that have anything to do with it? the holes still line up and everything. im using the same tq converter that was on the 305.
