Zexel torsion w/3.42's installed--speedo ?'s

Ok, just had my 3.42's with Zexel torsion posi installed last week. I haven't finished breaking them in yet, so I don't know how they perform. The gears whine a little, but not bad.

I am gonna have my tranny rebuilt in a couple months, so it won't hurt anything if I just wait till then to change the speedo gears right? I know the speedo is off by about 20mph, but how does it affect the odometer and tripometer?
I think the gears I need are 19 white(driven) and 7 purple(drive), anybody have the PN's for these?
By the way I have a 700R4.

What a coincidence! I've been asking similar questions. Here is what I've figured out:

Actual speed appears to be about 10% less than what shows on the speedo (on a T-5), however my guage rpms and speed are perfectly matched for the 3:42 gear ratio. My od/trip meters appear to be .1 mile too fast.

The colors and teeth #s you mentioned are right, but I have different GM part #s

GM 14071731 driven
GM 14090592 drive

This is what the GM parts clerk told me I needed for a 92 Camaro/T-5 3:42.

Unless you are worried about your car "aging" faster on the odometer, you should have no problems.

He has a TH700R4 which is a 4 speed automatic transmission. That is why the part numbers are different for your 5 speed manual T-5 transmission.

Hey guys thanks for the info, I did do a search first, but didn't come up with the correct info.

I love the posi! I definitely get better traction, and I think I gained about 3 or 4mph in the 1320! Very happy with the quality of the gears and how the posi reacts so far. I recommend them to anyone, although I will probably end up replacing the $99 diff. with the HD version. But for the price, it can't be beat.
