Please Help!!!! Conversion question from 700r4 to t-5

Ok, i've blown up like 3 700r4's. 2 of them were built well by a shop but I have blown through them within 7 months and 6 months. So i was like what can i do. Buddies suggested putting a 5 speed in. So i bought the entire setup for conversion for a good price. The performance shop that had my car said i'm down grading because the T-5 sucks. My thing is I did alot of downshifting with the automatic, with a stick that shouldnt be a problem. With a slightly modded 350 will i be blowing up the T-5's as fast as i blow 700r4's? Please any and all imput Thank You

From what I've read, if you treat it gently, the T5 should be okay. No speed shifting, no dropping the clutch at high RPM's. However, I only have an LG4, so I don't need to worry about it.

Well, if i was to get in a street race, i rev my car out to about 5000rpms. I talked to SLP and a guy there said if i was to race weekly at the strip, then i would see about a 1 1/2 out of the tranny, but was wondering if anyone ever faced this experience, or has a T-5 on there cars that are well modded.
