700r4 shifter cable won't stay adjusted
I have adjusted my shifter cable several times only to have it change after only a few shifts. I'm wondering if I have the wrong nut on it, or possibly the teflon washer is somehow not on the linkage correctly. Does anyone have a pic of the proper assembly?
Can't seem to figure what I'm doing wrong here.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Seems to be OEM. It was ok before the engine swap, which leads me to believe I did something wrong.
That bracket that holds it at the trans is kind of flimsy, but the cable is visibly sliding in the trans linkage slot. The assembly gets torqued to spec and then after maybe 5-10 shifts it has slipped enough that the nut/bolt/washer have moved to the front of the slot.

Re: 700r4 shifter cable won't stay adjusted
The factory shop manual, for my 1991 model, says, 'put the stick in the neutral postion, put / rotate the transmission lever to the neutral postion, install cable and tighten nut.' That has always worked for me. The only time I had a problem is when some hack-shop worked on my car, and installed an aftermarket cable. After about 1000 miles of use, the a/m cable was toast (wouldn't go into park); when I went to adjust it, I discovered it was an a/m cable, and it would not stay adjusted. I got a used OEM cable, installed it per the instructions above( NO 'ADJUSTMENT' REQUIRED), and it worked perfectly.

The cable isn't stretching, the nut/teflon washer/shouldered bolt assembly are slipping on the linkage.
