KED85..question about clutch/3.4

on my 2.8 bird the clutch just went on me, and i am getting a deal on a new one plus the installation for $260 and since i dont konw much about cars i thought i would ask, i plan on doing a 3.4 swap.... and will the new clutch for the 2.8 be okay if i swap to the 3.4 or will i have to get another one?? or is the clutch located in the engine and be swapped no matter what? sorry to add to the millions of questions about the 3.4 you have been getting

You would be the SECOND person, make that THIRD, doing a 3.4 & 5 speed job.
Last First person went thru two clutches.
NOW he could have been heavy & "hurt" it under warranty.
I know one other, Dan, also doing the clutch & 3.4 stuff.
FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD, get the BETTER clutch you can afford.
Do everything then & WHEN you do the 3.4 swap, I do recommend AGAIN, resurfacing the flywheel.
I mean it will be in your hands.
Spend your money wisley, for a good job done later on.
These 3.4 do generate a lot of torque.
With the 2.8/3.1, you slide the clutch out to get more power.
The 3.4, just go!
PS as an FYI
NO YOU WILL BE THE FASTEST with a V-6.
But you CERTAINLY will be much stronger on the raod, where it counts!
like passing & cruising up hills (no more downshifting!)

I like that!!

SERIOUSLY!!
Had my 1966 Corvette.
All stock, back in 1972.
Needed a clutch.
BY DEALER, he installed, 3 Scheifer Clutches (a HD brand).
ALL three slipped, IN DAYS!!!!!
In went a factory 1966 327-300hp Corvette clutch (from chevy parts).
Never a problem ever again.
SO I DO AGREE with the LOL part!!!
It is TRUE statement, many times the aftermarket stuff doesn't work as well as the factory stuff.

Do it all RIGHT the first time. Spend the bucks & effort or wait until you have the correct part & bucks.

I wonder what Dan's response will be, if he has his 3.4/5-speed swap together.

I drove my friend 92 5.0 mustang ragtop the otherday. No that clutch gives your whole leg a workout. The clutch moves maybe 4 inches and is so hard to push. I drove a bmw 5 speed once and the clutch was short and heavy too. almost killed it. forgot reverse was on the left.

Tell your friend with the stang to invest in a adjustable clutch cable with a billet quadrant.. will help out. Same thing on my mustang, but im going to a king cobra clutch with a firewall clutch adjuster and billet quadrant to solve the problem. his cable is probably binding

What is time? Something that I don't have much of. I'm trying my damndest to get this motor built...IT TAKES FOREVER. I'm getting ready to hone the cylinder walls, then mic' everything to check clearances. And the T5.....that's a whole 'nother nightmare.

Hopefully (fingers crossed) the motor will be in by summer time and the T5 in by the end of the year.

Ya he just broke his clutch cable on his stang actually. Hes investing in a good aftermarket adjustable one now instead of a new stock one.
