BMR Strut tower brace on a 2.8/3.1 Firebird?
OK I did a search and i found 2 camaros (WWasem & 1991rsblue
) running the BMR brace...any Firebird guys running them on their 2.8s or 3.1s?
I'm sick of the Edelbrock one pushing my hood up. I just found pics of the hood installed w/o the brace and it fir perfect and level. Ergo its the brace and I've had it with it....So I want to go with BMR's STB. Anyone used it on a bird? Just curious to see how close it is to the hood. If it rubs or touches at all!
Thanks!

Which Edelbrock one do you have on there? If it's the one for TPI cars, I'd be interested in yours when you replace it. I know that the Hotchkis fits really nice under a Firebird hood, but wheter it will clear your engine or not..... and it's not a 3 point brace. I have not heard anything really good about BMR stuff (quality control issues) but you know how people are. I want the Edelbrock one in a bad way, and am going to buy one in the next few days (before the end of July), so if you want to unload it, maybe I'll buy yours. Let me know.

Its the TPI one...I would say yes, but we altered it considerably and would not feel right selling it. In an attempt to not keep it and not have to go thru drilling more holes in the car...We had to cut out part of it in an attempt to clear the top of the intake and still it hit. The mounting braces we cut on as well. I would hate to sell it and have you have a problem with it. Not to mention it has spots that have rubbed thru the powder coating due to it hitting the hood! I have just had a time with it!

It s a big debate but I found the jamex bar to be as awesome addon and I bet its more than enough for a V6. A V8 has the torque that a 3-4 point brace might help.
I have mine bolted on the side of the strut but still where the metal is double thick. ANd I have it on edge kind of to clear my ramair hosing.

Thanks anyway, it was worth asking though. With how much customization you have done to your car, maybe a custom built brace would solve your problems better than anything you could buy (especially if you've had to modify one in the past). As far as I know, the Edelbrock one is just about the lowest profile one out there and just by looking at it, the BMR one's center section looks like it may interfere with your intake. Good luck.

Well the Camro guys shimmed it to clear the AC aparently the intake was not the prob. I just wonder if it will hit my hood? If I had easy access to a welder, fabbing our own would be a definate...but right now i don't, so I figure it can't hurt to try the BMR brace...Just getting some feedback before I order it...

The 82TA project is on hold for the moment. We were about ready to start on the painting when we lost our work area. We had it at my boyfriend's old job. They decided to move the company training center from here in Atl to Dallas, TX. So the building here was shut down and our stuff had to be moved into storage. Soon we hope to get things rolling again. So the flame job will happen on the 82, just not right now. Its going to be much more involved then the picture shows though. 4 layers of different shades of graphite to black flaming over the pewter. Hope I can tape flames...

I bought one (Edelbrock strut tower brace for TBI/carb.) but in the rush to get it I didn't check that it wouldn't fit on cars with the A/C on the driver's side... does any one want to buy it? $120 takes it!
