I need your guidance. Please help!
As some of you may remember I had no chioce but to junk my Camaro Last October. I'm finaly in a position to get another one. My options are 1992 RS 3.1 V6 Auto w/ T-Tops 114k miles that needs a fender/door/hood/bumpercover/and exhaust for $1000 (I can probably talk him down some). My other option is a 1987 Z-28 V8 LG4 5-speed 68k miles and the engine was rebuilt 14k ago, bored 30 over. Needs Carb rebuilt or replaced, back breaks and weather stripping for the doors and the guy said $750.
My problem is I really want T-Tops, but I really want a V8/5-Speed even if it is the LG4. Tell me what you think
I figured I could post this here on the V6 board because if I did anywhere else I would get all the V6 Haters saying "Get the V8, V6's suck" Blah Blah Blah. I've owned the V6 Camaro and I liked it. So what it wasn't that fast.

Axle/Gears: open 3.42, posi 3.42
i would go with the v8/t5 . . . thats a killer combo, and its easy to mod up an lg4 to be fast . . . if its carb then your already set pretty much . . . hell, you can just drop a 383 in there no problem with a new carb and you'd be set.
i do like the 91-92 camaro's a lot, but since the v6 isnt a manual and needs all that body work, go for the z28.

I personally do not like t-top cars for the simple reason that they can not handle as well being a weaker unibody structure with more flex than a hardtop.
If the t-top car is important to you though then my opinion would be to wait for more future choices and scrap these two.

Car: 91 Camaro
Engine: 3.1...not hardly stock
Transmission: 700r4....not stock either
Axle/Gears: 3.73
either wait like Naed said or go for the v8 one. I don't say that often but it sounds like its in better shape and its cheaper and you can always swap to the newer ground effects if you like them more.

can you cut and weld?
i bought the roof off of a towncar that had a moonroof from a wrecker for 150$
there are a few guys on here that have done the swap if you search.
even if you dont id still get the z28. im sure the posi 5 speed and v8 will make you forget you wanted ttops for awhile

I already have a Holly Carb coming from a guy at work for free (needs a rebuld) if I get it. Wish me luck. And Performance parts a cheap for it.

Im a fan of t tops but Id go for the Z. sounds like a good deal, carbs arent horribly hard to rebuild, but bodywork is esp if you're like me and super **** about getting everything perfect, not that it makes it hard or anything but well...trust me I will take my sweet *** time working on one piece making sure its right.

the z28,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,unless gas mileage is a big problem for you,,,,or let the guy with the rs sit on it for a while,,,,,then go back and if he still has it try n get it dirt cheap,,,,one d.d. one for burnouts

Thanks for your "guidence". I went to see the Z-28 yesterday and It turned out that the reason it was stalling was that a spark plug wire melted to the manifold and it was loosing spark.. Any way I am going to purchase the Z-28. I just gotta get it down here. Its like 2 hrs away from my house
