Im thinking of installing the FLOWTECH red hots on my V6 2.8. Only question i have is will it hurt my peformance? RIght now im running a straight pipe and getting some backfire at the top rpm range, i'm hoping the glasspack will help it out.

glasspack on a 6 will sound more like an import i believe. it will reduce the backfire but will still pop when coming back down through the rpm range

From what I've always read on here, even a stock exhaust system is better than a straight pipe.

read the link I posted first folks
stock V6 exhaust sounds like an import. Its screams I just got a V6 over 2k
After fixing a complete stock system the car didn't rev as fast in the hi rpm band.
So I went with a single glasspack in the stock position but it was loud exitin on the left.
So I made the system about 50% shorter making a single side pipe exhaust
on the right with the glaspack.
Its doesn't sound like a v6 or an import, it just sounds mean and cool. Never gonna get 100% V8 sound but there is no reason for the exhaust note to give away what your packin. Though it sound very similar to my V8 car, same muffler.

I really can't fathom why you guys think the stock exhaust is so bad? The stock muffler or any reasonable aftermarket replacement is going to flow enough to support the power levels that a V6 will put out.
Glass packs and straight pipes are great... if you have a ****** and your parents have the same mom & dad. If you live in Arkansas or a trailer park, go ahead. It'll be sweeet.
On the other hand if you have a steady income and you don't want to look like a *******, get a good catback and quit screwing around.

Heres the thing... a performance muffler on a V6 will sound like every honda with a fart pipe. A stock catalytic converter, and stock style muffler will be the best combo to keep the sound quiet rather than raspy.
Any autoparts store should be able to get you a Walker muffler same as is provided in the Dynomax catback which would be quiet providing your cat isn't hollow or gone.
