how long has it been sitting? do you have any codes? try to start, if it idles for a sec, does the SES light come on?
There is a fuel filter between the pump and the engine... it is under the driverside lower crossmember (under car, between driver door and the driver rear wheel). I have also seen one in the engine bay on some carb vehicles. look at your chilton or haynes manuals.
if it has been sitting for a long time, may be bad gas. gas degrades after 6 months or so. Your carb or FI may be clogged. rebuild carb or clean injectors. Please give us as much information as possible. a fuel filter is only $7-15. your's may be a pain to replace due to rust and crap building up (dirt) around your filter... but have patience.

my ride
it wasnt setting at all.
i got fuel on the way home from work, then later that evening i took my son to work and in the morning it started for a minute maybe and stalled then would not start since. Today i assured fuel through the filter, wasnt that bad to loosen, then assured fuel at the fuel line to the injector set up one line had fuel the other was dry with a fuel smell.
i then did a pin test where it should give a 12 sequence flash and it flashed once and then ses light came back on permanently. this with the igniton in the on position but not engaging the starter.

MAF stands for mass airflow sensor. It's a black cylinder with a connector on the side that goes in front of your intake manifold. Without it the car will not run. You might also need your intake air temp sensor which screws into the Y-shaped part of the intake(the part right above the filters).
