And would you mind posting an exhaust sound clip for me? When I get around to replacing the intake manifold gaskets, I'm thinking of installing a cam just for fun... Thanks!

There is a vid floating around here that has a 2.8 cammed in it. I'll have a cammed 3.1 here in a few months.

Nope, But have roller rockers on a stock cam and she scoots pretty good for a little 2.8. There isn't anything else stock about this car at all except the bottom end of the motor.
Here's an in cockpit video clip of it braking and accelerating. The car is an '87 2.8l auto with 3.23 gears. It runs high 15's which is slow, but very very repectful for a 2.8V6 on all motor only.

That car does move pretty good. I wonder how mine will do with a cam.

I'm ordering my cam next week and completing my rebuild in a couple weeks from now. I'm using the towing cam from the S10 Blazer's 2.8 to increase the low-end. I'll let you know how it goes when I'm done, if you're interested.

It'll take a whole lot more than just a cam. I have over 30k into this car modification wise. The drivetrain is extremely lightweight and exotic. APCT CF driveshaft for one, moser drilled axles, Trans is wickedly built.... it goes on and on. Just one fun daily runner for around town use.

How bad is a high performance CAM on emissions? I have a fuel injection firebird 3.1 and I want a high performance cam, can I get away with it in California?

Re: Anyone here have a cammed 2.8?
Safely you can run .440/,440 lift on a fuel injection car (MPFI) and still pass without too much dirty overlap, Nor messing to badly with the computer sensors.

Its a radical daily driver I built for my wife. Took something different and built it into my version of a grocery getter. Its my family car per say. This car corners like you can not believe. It really does not need massive power to enjoy since it carriers its speed. Its just fun to drive daily and is not ment to be a massive HP garage queen.

You could always dump some G2P in the tank. Does just what the name implies, you're Guaranteed to Pass. Took my emissions without a frequency card in the maf and I passed!

Re: Anyone here have a cammed 2.8?
with a larger cam, any idle test will be hard to pass, if you have the ability to tune the car you can reduce the VE tables at idle, then bump up the spark timing a little to get rid of the rich idle.
As long as you have a good cat it should be ok if you don't go too agressive with the cam.
