Nice. I just skimmed through the other thread about these...are they are for someone elses car, or did I not read it right?
Also, Im looking at the same tranny, from the same company, and was wondering what converter you went with?

Damn...there are so many parts there that I have on my "suspension wish list". If my car ever gets done, it will be a long while before I get to touch the suspension. I'm so jealous.

You know if you are swapping to a 3.4 in your '86, might as well use the superior Gen3 late model 60 degree heads in the pics above

I know it's a 4th gen, but since so many of the V6's here have gone with the 3.4, and since this customer is going all out and wants dyno #'s figure everyone here would like to see

Re: Not trolling....

Yeah... it's gonna be a couple years yet before that thing gets back on the road. In the meantime, the heads have to come off anyway, and I'm already half tempted to put gen 3 units back on. I'm keeping the distributor though, so this will probably force my sheet/tube intake project. Honestly though I may just throw the iron heads back on and compensate for flow restrictions with added boost. :P

Kinda a toss-up between "make it really fast" and "make it sellable fast".

Re: Not trolling....

Why dizzy? If you swap to the MAP ECM ('7730), it will run the ICM, and you already have the reluctor sensor in the block on a 3.4.

Re: Not trolling....

I think you need to wrap your head around this real quick.. I've got $150.00 in the turbo, turbo kit, 749 ecu, and tuning hardware combined. I've got $100.00 in the 3.4 sitting on the stand. Apply figures of this scale to anything and everything moving forward.

If I put real money into mods, they're going on the LS1.

Went with a '7727 ECM and $a1 mask...

Runs nice, and with the rear suspension mods and the tuning, the car runs great! Will spin the tires a few revolutions stabbing it from a stop, and will chirp 2nd with the Vette servo.

Here's a short idle vid (stock crate 3.4 and my tune)...

Took the motor, trans and k out today...

Re: Not trolling....

Techsmurf, going DIS is likely cheaper than you think....

You say you have a '7749 ECM, going to run $59? It can run DIS with a few changes to some parameters. There are currently two ways discussed on the code59 forum.

You have a 3.4 block, which has the provisions for the crank trigger, it probably has or had the CPS in it. It may have even had the DIS ICM and coils attached to it.

I went from dizzy to DIS in my Datsun (running a '7749 w/ $59), and never want to go back to dizzy again now.

Re: Not trolling....

Dude you really like to use pieces of 2x4 and landscaping blocks.

Got the back partial supported with em in the vid, then the front of the car 30ft in the air with the jackstands on stacked ones.

Did you even bother to nail them together???

Actually I hate 4th gens lol so I don't. I love Camaros, but they just didn't do something right with the 4th gen at least until like 2002 when they killed it

Me too, but I just dont like the way they look.....

And it pisses me of to no end when I see peoples nice thirdgens that have 4TH GEN DASHES IN THEM!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!

Its a Camaro, so I like it for that, but its also a 4th gen, so I dont like it because of that, third gen was the last good looking gen, and if they didnt hold out until 93 to release all the new features they did, then the last few years of the third gen would have been absolutely amazing. I dont disagree with the fact that a 4th gen is a great and all around great car, but it started to get into the time at gm when things started to be made of that cheap plastic, and crappy materials, and overall it just made the interiors of their cars look and feel like crap, and they tried to incorporate too many lines and too many curves, and too many changes wayyyy too fast prematurely and it just never really looked good......thats by biggest complaint

The customer took almost 3yrs to gather all the parts, I have no idea how much because he looked for group buys etc.

I can tell you it has my custom cam, ported heads, ported manifolds, Corvette LS6 valve springs, titanium retainers, Manley stainless valves and Viton seals that I charged over $2000 for (Valves and retainers were $500 in themselves). The rest of the work is costing him $45/hr plus parts. It's been a year long project billed in stages, so I have no idea what the total was. He is the second owner of the car and has an attachment to it, he bought it in 1994.

This is a build designed around reliability, lightweight, decent power with great gas mileage. Can't wait to weigh it when it's finished, as well as dyno it again for after results

It made ~140whp stock. Thought I posted the dyno sheet, will see about digging it up.

Where in Fl are you? If in the south, come by and see it in person My shop is in Pompano Beach (1 block North of the FTLauderdale line).

i live in Orlando around the intersection of 436 and 17-92.

if you are ever around lee road check out my restaurant it is called "Just Fork It" my name is Andy.

i currently have no car for myself (except the Firebird that i need to get running) just the van between me and my parents (they moved in with me once we got together and bought the restaurant) it is weird having the parents back in the house after 7 or so years of being on my own. damn the sacrifices to keep the business alive. anywho, keep up the great work. again looks damn nice.

Thanks!

Yeah we pass through O-town now and again (~2hr drive). My father won 3rd place in the all original Corvette reunion in Old Town last yr (couldn't make it this yr ) and our BMW race team just passed through there last weekend on our way to Gainesville - but we didn;t have much time to stop on the way up since the trailer had a a bad wheel and couldn't go over 55 lol, got a lot of beeps on the highway as well as pic takers, though, as you can see why...

http://s448.photobucket.com/albums/q...M%20Challenge/

Still can;t believe we built that car for less than $2010 (we came in under budget at $1960) for the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge.

Anyways, bck to topic, we got the front suspension bolted in tonight, by the end of the weekend we should have the harness hooked up and maybe get a cam break in! w00t!

Here's the same cam in another car with same specs - car in this vid, I opened up the chambers to 36cc so the customer could have .05" quench with 3.4 gaskets and less than 12:1 (all 6 jugs cc'd). 3500 heads/LIM, my custom cam, same LS6 spring swap etc etc...even though the title says "11.1 compression" it's actually 11.38:1.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JAO3_2ztNs

and the measuring of said chambers...

Re: Not trolling....

Been a while since this thread was updated. With moving the shop and all, we have been spending crazy hours just to get back operational.

Well, we had a mis-hap, but turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

During the move, the Camaro was outside and we had a torrential downpour, manifold was on the engine, but lacking injectors and thanks to Chevy's brilliant design, water got in the engine! Well, we took the manifolds and heads off to find a bit of surface rust on the cylinder walls. We wouldn't let this type of build go out the door in that condition, so out the motor came.

Well, upon opening the oil pan on this 10,000 mile engine, first thing we noticed was that the rod caps were tightened inconsistently! Then after pulling the two pistons out, we noticed slight grooves in the bearing themselves Engine was already bred .040" over and the numbers someone wrote on all the rod caps were in no particular order.

Anyways, there's been more progress, but we were held up slightly by this situation and Paul will be getting a new motor for the cost of parts since we want to keep our name reputable. We didn't feel comfortable with the bottom end and 11.6:1 SCR.

Anyways, on to pics...

I am not happy with the placement of the y-pipe from Pace Setter, it hangs too low, so it will be modified to fit better and not have to worry about it scraping the ground.

All ARP hardware was used, and all fasteners were upgraded for the entire car.
