ram air on a v6 91 firebird
ive seen alot of these pictures of the ram air for the tpi... (newb here), where it comes off the intake and splits into two right behind the front bumper. Would this be possible to put on a v6? also , what kind of cold air/ ram air kits are there for the v6's?

tha setup only works on the camaro's. THe front end of the firebird slopes down more and you dont have the clearance over the radiator support for that intake.
no true cold air or ram air kits exist for the v6 cars, you have to make something.
the best "factory" setup is the dual intake setup used on the 91-92 firehawks with the t-ram intake, but good luck ever finding one. and they would be really expensive if you did.

v6 Camaros had them as an option, sadly as 86TA said the firebirds did not get them, you could get a ws6 style hood.

I wouldn't be so concerned with "ram air" It's a gimmick. WHat you are really after is getting outside ambient temp into your engine. Go to the hardware store and find some piping to extend the filter outside the engine compartment or at least away from any hot air. While you're at it bypass the throttle body coolant also. If you get REAL bored you can port match the plenum and throttle body. I did this on my TR and gained 1psi of boost. I know that's like comparing apples to oranges but if the mpfi v6 is anything like the TPI cars, there will be a little gain to be had from doing this. I would make sure ALL of your tune up stuff is done and iac and tps is all set accordingly. If you have a single muffler exhaust, I would just replace the muffler with a straight through design. If you are after more you could even gut the cat. I wouldn't spend tons of money on stuff. A lot of the stuff you can do yourself with some tools and some time and should see an improvement. You could also build a hot wire kit for the fuel pump.

I meant that the CAI dual snorkel setup was an option, not ram air.
