pulling my hair out

i did the fuel pump cuz tht blew replaced the starter put in a new timing chain and a new distributor.. engine still doesnt start! its getting fuel, spark, air(obviously) and the engine doesnt kick on turning the distributor completely from one side to the other.. my buddy is thinking its the ecm which im starting to think its that. the engine makes pff sounds like a cyl is firing but nothing is rlly happening. when u manually crank the engine you gatta use some effort to turn it. which kinda shows its got some sort of compression.. timing chain is done right because the engine did run after the timing chain was replaced... any ideas?

Re: pulling my hair out

Check the fuses. Maybe one blew out when the pump went? Check the vacuum lines too, and are you sure its getting fuel and spark?

You say it ran fine after putting a new timing chain. What about after replacing the distributor. Your timing could be off at the dizzy. Also check your wires even if your sure there where they need to be my buddy put two wires on his truck wrong and the truck would run like crap he kept throwing money at it and in the end it was just the cables and he was so sure that they were fine.
