SPARK PLUGS??

IN your guys opinion, what spark plugs do you guys find to be the best for our V6s or work best with a MSD coil? Thanks

Most guys will swear by the AC Delco Rapidfires, but I'm a big fan of Splitfires.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GET BOSCH PLATINUM +4's. Waste os money and time.

I beleive I get 'more bang for the buck' with AC Delco Rapidfires.

My suggestion is try whatever your choice may be and see if your engine likes them. If it doesn't, try your second choice.

NGK is not bad, AC Delco makes some nice ones, I would avoid splitfire like the plauge. (Had a bad experience with them)Since i change mine every year I usualy go with stock AC Delco's or NGK's...

Heh. I've used Splitfires every year (except one) since 1994, and have had no problems.

What did I use that one year? Accel U-grooves. The brass terminal that the plug wire clips onto would constantly unscrew from the plug! After a month or so I'd get a misfire... so I'd have to tighten the terminals up again. I thought maybe I got a bad set, so I checked another package- same thing. The terminals on the U-grooves in the store package were so loose I could unscrew 'em by hand! I've heard that other U-groove users have had the same problem. I'll never buy those again- they were too much of a pain in the butt.

So I wouldn't say to avoid Splitfires like the plauge!

I used splitfires when I was into car audio... It was the only plug to give my setup engine noise. Then they went bad...I took 2 back and got replacements after only 1 year. Stock AC delco's look pretty good after a year, drastical cleaner compared to the splitfires I was given. In my opinion it would be better to buy better wires, cap, rotor, and MSD Coil before you toss your money on expensive plugs...

That's odd; maybe you got the wrong heat range? My plugs always look clean. I posted a thing a while ago regarding heat ranges; seems that GM decided that in '88, the 2.8's should get a hotter plug. Splitfire still lists the colder plug for the '88 motors... and a colder plug would look dirty & oil-soaked. I remember quite a few people (mainly with trucks) complaining about oil-soaked plugs; I bet Splitfire had their heat range listed incorrectly.

But that's definately true; plugs are plugs, the "best" increase you get is by replacing old worn out plugs with brand new plugs. Split's are $4/ea right now, by buying a less expensive plug, you could get a new cap and rotor, or put the cash towards a good set of wires or a hotter coil.
