The ole 2.8 is starting to give out on me. She started to knock a little last night, but today, it's doing it all the time. Not really sure if I want to just put a 3.4 in, or do I wanna go carb 350 or 305. She's been good to me, going to treat her well from now on.

Re: V6 is on it's last legs.

Why would it have to be a carbed 305 or 350?

I would go 3.4 or better yet 3.4/3400/3500 hybrid.

My daily, need the replacement to be quick and simple. I have everything for either swap. Would just need the 3.4 or a 305/350 and a trans.

A 3.4 should be very quick and easy.

Looks like you just want a quick engine replace and back on your way. Call around the local engine places and see what they have in stock but for a quick job I would probably look for a 3.4

Re: V6 is on it's last legs.

If I were needing to do something quick I would go with the 3.4. I myself was planning to drop a 3.4 in my 88 but since I'm about to get my fiero on the road the camaro is probably going to go to the dark side but it'll be a while before that happens since I'll be moving into a place with a garage and plenty of room and time to work on it without worrying about having to cover everything up when it's about to pour

Re: V6 is on it's last legs.

the only way id go 350 over 3.4 is if u can get a good running 350 cheap,i wouldnt waste my time at all with a 305, but a 3.4 swap will still be the cheapest option

It would get a 3.4, but I want my cam and 1.6 roller rockers on the 3.4. But, I'm going to pull my belt off to make sure it's not a pulley making the noise.

Seems like a pulle ywill be the cause of the sound. It hasn't knocked, or made a knocking sound since I drove it to work. Going to do some investigation when I get home from work.
