Car: 89 firebird bone stock for now
Engine: 2.8L V6
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: B.W 9Bolt 3.27 Posi
Is my cold air intake right?
a week ago i got bored and decided to fab up my own CAI. problem is i dont know if i put the sensors in the right place. not that i can move them easily but i want to know if they are cool where they are. basicaly its a 3in pvc to a small little k&n. pvc cost me like 30 bucks and the filter like 50. plus a crp chrome spectre piece i had to buy for the filter to fit. nothing is glued down and i had help from a little duct tape to keep everything snug on the joints.
let me know what you guys think. any input is appreciated. thanks -aaron

and i made a little a little slit using the air dam piece so a little extra air could go inside. clever huh?

thanks. also i didnt have to move the stupid canister haha. maybe i havnt searched long enough but i hv'nt seen the slit done on other cars beffore. maybe a start of a trend?? haha

Nice! A local guy here did the "scoop" thing to his 'bird too, but tried to use it to scoop air to cool the radiator instead of just buying a stock airdam. It didn't work out.......

It's just an air intake temperature sensor, it wouldn't even have to be inside the intake pipe to work fine, although it is preferable it be in the intake tract, as it will get a more accurate reading of whats actually going into the engine.

looks good did u cut that hole where it goes to the fender? I'm curious now cause im thinking of making one my self.

ye i just cut a hole under the stock assembly. only thing to take into consideration is the fender bars that hold the fender to the body. i brely had room to squeeze the filter thru.
as for the scoop peice its just i dont see how much air will get in with the plastic next to the radiator.
