2.8 vs 3.1

My 2.8 gave up on me. I found a 3.1 for $200. I'm wondering how much, if any better the 3.1 is. Will my computer work with it? If not, will my intake fit on the 3.1 so I don't have to switch computers? Thanks for any info.

That's a very good question. I can't really help you but the performance gain is pretty small. I think like 5 hp and 10 lbs of torque. That's a good price for that engine though. I think the computers might be different and you can use your intake I believe. I know a little difference is the 3.1 liter is Speed density and your 2.8 has a MAF. Sorry I'm not much help!

Very Simple. Go to the search section and seek the thread 2.8 - 3.4 Swap boogie. I named cause I wrote it and I did it.
READ IT!
NOW for you,
Simple.
Change the "3.4" to "3.1"
Wait until you have both motors out, side by side, to make any final determinations what to do.
IF ya do this right, you've got a running car for very little bread & a lot of effort.
Who cares about HP.
You want your car to run again, right?
After you install the 3.1 & got it sorted out, then play with power.
Wish I could find a 3.1 I could trust for $200.

Thanks KED85. That's what I was wondering. If you could do the 2.8/3.1 swap just like the 3.4 swap. Read through your boogie last week already.

It should be like putting another 2.8 in, other then changing the speed density/maf. the 3.1 is just a stroked 2.8 after all
