Since you are changing the rear axle and no one could know what length the new one is, no one can answer your question.

9.5x17" wheel backspacing

hello!
thanks for replying so quickly.
perhaps i was confusing in my description.the axle i am replacing the borg-warner(gm performance option)w/is a stock gm 10 bolt disc brake unit.by the
way both are disc brake rear ends,i think they are the same lengths? so
i guess anyone w/a 82-92 camaro w/a 10-bolt disc brake rear axle would have the same backspacing if using a 9.5"X 17" wheel.by the way i'm planning on running 275/40/17.
thanks again
chuck
p.s.
could possibly be 5.5"
backspacing

Car: too many ...
Here is a picture of 9.5" wide rear wheel with 5.5" backspacing on a stock GM 10 bolt (275 tire). You should be good with 5.5".

ya 7" I believe. look at this page for more info...
http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.html

there are different size 11" wheels out there and some have different backspacing numbers so be careful.

you will not get that look with 11" wheels without modifying inner wheel well. There are members on this board that have 11" wheels. Do a search and see what they had to do. The wheels in my sig pic are 11" wide on a 4th gen rear and they stuck out just a bit to much for my liking.

The most I ever see is a 10 inch rim width, and that is rolling the fender well lips.

Re: rear wheel backspacing

So to fit 275 40 18s on my 18x9 rims. I would need a 5 inch backspace? Should i go 5.5? Im ordering spacers for vette wheels. The tires will fit too right? Thanks guys.
