Wheel fit request from the gurus..

Just picked up a sweet deal on some Welds and tires for C6 vette fitment. I have c6 wheels now that fit well. I am lowered on coil overs have 2.5 spacer in the front and 3/4' spacer rear with a 4th gen rear. I think these welds are a touch wider then the factory c6 wheels I have. But they have the same size tires as the c6 wheels. New wheel sizes are front 18x9.5 offset 50 bs 7 rear is 19x11 offset 70 bs 8.75. Tires are 245 40 18 and 285 35 19.

Does anyone think these will fit without issue? They are brand new with no tires mounted yet. Once I mount the tires I cant return them.

Current setup. The rear just clears the lip on the quarter. It was rubbing with a 1" spacer so i went with the 3/4"

You have wheels on car that you can see how they fit and measure the width and backspacing.
You have new wheels you can measure the width and backspacing.

Use a tape measure and straight edge to get all these numbers and then you can work all this out on paper.

Re: Wheel fit request from the gurus..

Given that they're both c6 or c6 "fitment" wheels, with the same size tires, I'd think they'd pretty much fit the same. BUT.....as Quick says, you have everything right there in front of you. Just take measurements to be sure.

Re: Wheel fit request from the gurus..

Well they dont fit. The offsets make it worse. The rears will bolt up on the 4th gen rear with no spacer but they sit way to far back that with the tire it will make a lot of work to make them fit. With the 3/4 spacer they stick out to far and will get torn up on the fender lip. So Im gonna have them switch it out for the 19x9.5. Now the front fits but the inside clearance is real close to the coilover and it sticks out past the fender lip. Not sure how you guys run a 9.5 on the front of these cars. Im glad I didnt mount the tires because then id be stuck with these wheels

So for reference for anyone else looking Weld Venturas in 18x9.5 50 offset in the front will clear with a spacer in your not lowered and dont care if the tires stick out a little. They will fit the rear with no spacer on a 4thgen rear

Re: Wheel fit request from the gurus..

I've heard coil overs cause a lot of fitment issues for wider tire applications. ...and reason you didn't get the Welds with a 0mm offset up front? Although I guess with the coil over it wouldn't have mattered. -or maybe you didn't buy them new, and that's why you got a deal???

I bought them brand new. The guy thought they would fit being im running c6 wheels already. The wheels I have now fit perfect to me. The stance is perfect so I wanted to run the same size tire I have now for the factory c6 wheels. Im going to return them for 18x8 0 offset for the front and 19x9.5 50 offset for the rear. Thats 1/2 smaller width then the factory c6 wheels so I can run the same tires. Hopefully the 0 offset in front doesnt become an issue with the coilovers since that was mentioned.

Re: Wheel fit request from the gurus..

Can you try a different spacer

285’s are kinda small for a 11” wheel.

so c6 stock is 19x10 79 offset i believe. New wheels should be in half inch to 3/4” more than stock c6, and have 1/4-1/2 more outside at the sidewall. Surprised they arent fitting

With the 3/4" spacer i was using on the c6 wheels the wheels fit no rubbing on the inside but they stick out almost flush with the outside edge of the quarter

panel.

Its tight on the inside. Theres some rubbing with the c6s so the welds would be worse Im sure. Can you even roll a 3rd gen fender? Its pretty thick. I was gonna grind it a little with a die grinder. Baby steps keeping it cool to not damage the paint. Car was just painted and has like 9 coats on clear on it. I really dont wanna risk cracking the paint.

Yes you can roll the rear fender. Get an Eastwood roller. They are under $100 and work well. The front is trickier since there are tabs meant for the wheel liner. Rolling the rear helps immensely.

Re: Wheel fit request from the gurus..

The shop is swapping the wheels out for me. Im going with a 18x8 +29 offset for the front. 19x9.5 +50 for the rear. Tires I have will work. Just may need to play with spacers in the front. They didnt wanna do the 0 offset in the front because the wheel design will look different and also brake clearance will be affected.
