Accel Super Ram

Hi, I am just curious if any of you have the Accel Super Ram upper and lower intake and what kind of performance increase did you get? Thanks.

Darcom, what do you run in the quarter, or what are some power numbers?? I'm building a 383 and can't decide if I should get superram bolt on parts for my TPI or go with the mini ram??

welp its all up to you and really what you
want to do.
also it seems the super ram & mini ram are
hot debates right now.
but i did choose the super ram over the mini
ram for a couple of reasons.
one becouse i aready had fuel rails and a ajustible
fuel pressure reulator
two becouse it produces alot of torque and
if i want to move the power band higer i
just have to do some porting
the mini ram is set already for high rpms
also the super ram takes time to assimble
but i found a very cool trick that makes
it 100% easer and takes no time at all.

You should base your decision on your cam profile. The superram has a rpm ceiling of about 5500 rpm and offers more low end torque. The mini-ram (which is what I have) has the shortest runner design which is great for the higher rpm's(if you have the cam to support it) but a little soft on the low rpm torque. This could probably be tuned out with a custom prom. Good luck.

I could be wrong here but the superram is advertised and endorsed with lingenfelter to work well up to and beyond 6500. Aside from the first post though, I notice no one has mentioned and gains, which is what really counts. Thanks guys.

I had a stock TPI on my 383 at first and it was great until about 4200 rpm. I put the Super Ram on ond POW. You could actually feel the horsepower start to take over at around 4500rpm and start pulling hard to close to 6000 rpm. I don't have numbers as of yet, but will post them as soon as I get them. No torque was lost down low and I gained another 1500 usable rpm. Definately worth the $600 I paid for the Accel base, runners, and plenum. I think my cam is very well matched to my combo because it is tuned close to the tuned nature of the Super Ram. I think that is why it starts pulling so hard at 4500. The ramming effect of the tuned runners, cam, and conservative heads. Good luck.

well the trick is take a drimmal and cut a
line out on the bottom of each bolt
then whin you are assimbling it take a flat
head screwdriver and turn the bolts counter
clockwise tunning them upwards then take
the 1/4 star weanch a tighten to specs.
also use a small flat head so as not to
strip the threds off the box intake as
you are turning them.
i found this shortend the time of assimly
75%.

Another installation option is to tap the 4 inner holes of the runners, and drill out the threaded hole in the plenum. Then fasten with button-head screws from the top - inside the plenum. You will want some retention method to ensure that the bolts do not vibrate loose. The perimeter holes should be relatively easy to reach. I would use socket head cap screws for runner-to-base and a ball-end allen wrench. I've written up some instructions for the people on the Accel GP - send me an e-mail if you want a copy. The vendor has verified that this is the method he uses.

Yeah..thats how mine is setup, the four inner bolts on each side go in from the top. I dont know what the fuss is about installing this intake. Its no harder than installing a stock TPI system. I dont have any times to give you yet.. but will post my Impressions of the combo I have when I do.

I Like Having good low end power, and topend and this intake gives both. And you dont have to run such a high stall converter to get into the power band. The MiniRam and SuperRam debate reminds me of the old Dualplane versious Singleplane intake debate. Before EFI...

im not going to tap mine like that what if
by chance a bolt comes loose then goes down an
intake vavle.
i know you can do thangs like loctight them
but i never give thangs a chance to go wrong
plus next time its harder to take apart.
just my opinon.
