Everyone Please Read

I am posting this on all tech boards to make sure every one gets to see it. Moderator please don't close this thread or move it. My Iroc has been off the road for about 8 months because my trans went out. I had it towed to Cottman transmission on Hwy 295 in Spartanburg, SC. It was there for 2 nights and on the next morning I got a horrible call at 8:45a.m. that my car had been broken into, someone had smashed my back window and stolen all my stereo equipment. Well, I went up there and made a police report and the manager said he wasn't responsible for any of it. I took pictures of my car, moved it to a new transmission shop, and contacted my lawyer. He said he is responsible for all damage done to my car and has ten days to contact me or I will take him to court. He has yet to contact me. I just wanted to post this to let everyone know that there are some real a**holes out there and to watch out. I have looked at the pictures and it appears that the stereo was gone before the back window was smashed, so I think it was an inside job. I have estimates for the back window, stereo, paint, and tint for almost $4,000. I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks I'm posting some pics too.

The first is my system or what was stolen

No I didn't have the cover rolled out but even the guy at the transmission place said you couldn't see through the tint. Besides, you could't remove the box without opening the hatch.

So they got the box too? My hatch switch is disconnected so that would be kinda hard on my car but possible if you cut a hole in the plastic and pull the black wire. That would pop it right open. I'm thinking about getting somekinda motorized tract for one of those roller deals. Now thats a good idea! Damn that sux.........

you can get a box through the hatch of a thirdgen.i seen it done. the guy that owned my car before i bought it had 5000 grond in stereo stuff ripped off. the busted the bakc window with a piece of porcelin. the stupid thing was the alarm didnt even give the warning chirp. we had it on video cuz they had tried a few nights before so we set it up. it wasnt the exact same box though. it was a huge box that had 1 15 and 2 12's. with enough force and determination it can be done. the only thng that really sucked was that my friend had video evidence and everything and he wasted to much time takin it the place that installed the alarm, so they said they wouldnt cover anything. i think they should have contacted clifford, thats what kinda alarm it was, and at least triedto get the money for the system back. but it goes to show that if ya dont get on top these things you will get screwed twice i nthe end. so dont waste time with it get it done and make them pay for the damages. good luck dude sorry to hear bout the car too man

And you had it it on tape. how sad! I think you need a motion detector + a sniper riffle on that camera. NOW THATS EXTREME PROTECTION! it just doesnt cover your murder case when you forget to use the tranks.

once the trans place has the car they are responcable for any damage that happens to the car while it is at or on their proporty of the trans shop. that is the way things work at the bodyshop i work for.

good luck

Wow I read this on the audio board but the pics are just terrible. I hope you don't have to pay for the rear window. With all the glass it is pretty expensive.

I am closing this post because there was NO need for you to post it in every single tech forum. I feel for you and your troubles, but if every person on this site spammed ALL of the sections when they had a problem, there would never be any room for tech posts. This post would have been most appropriate in the "Aftermarket Vendor Review" as it speaks volumes about the customer appreciation at that particular shop. In any case, reposting the same topic in multiple sections (most of which are not topic related) is a sure way to get your threads locked and in some cases your account banned. I hope things work out for you, but next time use a little more common sense in your posting.
