Problems with Cool Blue headlights in my Firebird!!!
I love these lights, I put them in about 2 years ago, the past few times I'v used my highbeams, they'll work for about 1-2minutes and then my headlights go out completly, the low beams will come back on when I flick the lever back, the low beams will continue to work w/out a problem. I don't know if it's a problem with the lights(too many watts maybe). My question is, where are the relays and circuit breakers for the headlights(87Firebird vinH). My friend said the relay should be on the driverside inner fender, but I can't find one anywhere, I do have on the the pasengerside though, as well as a few realys on the firewall(driverside). You guys got any ideas...this is bugging the chit out of me!!

youve got some kind of short because the only reason these would be going out after a certain amount of time would be from overheating (too many ohms, resistance, in a wire) thats all i can tell you.

Are the cool blue lights just a stock replacement bulb or are there mods involved? I assume by cool blue that they just give you that brighter blue color, right? Thanks

headlight switch
I had the same problem with the headlights on my 86 IROC, though they are not the same brand as yours. The highbeams would work for a few minutes and then go completely dark. I could always switch back to low beams, just like you.
In my case, the problem was with the headlight switch itself (attached to the pull-out **** on the dash). The switch was getting too hot apparently. I replaced the switch ($60.00 part) and the problem hasn't come back.

I heard that the output on the cool blues was not that great which led me to install the GE High Output lamps (whcih I'm very impressed with by the way). Aren't the cool blues a 35 watt lamp, same as the standard replacement??? Whereas the HOs are 55 watt.

If you've got the money go for a true HID kit instead of just blue imitations. HID kits may be about 400 dollars but the difference from any halogen bulb is absolutely amazing. My brother installed HID lights on his '97 F-150 and they are awesome.
