Catback???
I'm stuck in between two catbacks.....Edelbrock RPM Series or Flowmaster???? I want sound!!!!
People have told me that Edelbrock Catbacks are best for the money...and they said that they are similar to flowmaster in loudness.

I have true dual 40 series flowmasters on my truck, they are loud and rattle the crap out of it, sets off car alarms all the time. I dunno what the catback would sound like though. I was thinking of trying either hookers or flowmasters "american thunder" catback on my thirdgen. I think the loudest are flowmasters though. Anyone have a sound clip of edelbrock's? I haven't heard theirs yet.

I have th edlebrock and I'm alway stick with it. i am very pleased at it. Its very quiet while highway driving but at WOT it rocks. It was very easy to install and has a lifetime warrenty on ALL parts( i called and confirmed i ton that one) also I like that the muffler is stainless but th epipes are AL. 3 years later mine sounds and looks brand new. Mine will also set off my car alarm on my GP GT while backing next to it.

I'mm runnning the pipes from the JC Whitney set-up, and a Fowmaster 80 series 3" inlet, dual 2 1/2 out. The sound is great, and all together I paid $210 for it. The Kit from JC whitney has really nice pipes, but a crappy muffler. So, I just bought the flowmaster and viola!

FLowmaster! The #1 choice for Mustang owners! Sorry man, seems that every single Mustang on the road has one - i did not want my car to sound like that. Although it's a good sound, it's not as deep toned as I like. I had a Flowmaster for like 2 weeks and replaced it with a Dynomax. Not sure, but I think I've heard a few people comment about the edelbrock system being pretty good.

I'd say Flowmaster, but i have had problems getting hold of mine (i've been waiting 10 weeks so far)

I lover my edelbrock, the only probably was it got quieter when I but the headers on (bigger diameter y-pipe), but I got a cut out, so it doesn't matter
my rs + manifolds + no cat + edelbrock cat back = one of the best sounding cars i've ever heard, I ALWAYS got compliements on it, the only thing I didn't like was the 2 1/2 tail pipes, but I can always put some good tips on new tail pipes or something

I haven't tried any other catbacks than my flowmaster 80 series... but I have heard the delta flow and the hooker on a (nearly) stock Camaro. The Hooker did sound quite grizzly and mean, but I felt that the flowmaster sounded a little "smoother" (for lack of a better word to use).
HOWEVER, after I did the zz4 cam, and a head swap, I have been quite reluctant to try any other brands than my flowmaster. The tone of my exhaust changed COMPLETELY... everyone that's heard it always comes up and questions what's been done to the car. I just reply, "no cats man... that's it.. just a straight pipe. Look underneath if you don't believe me".
I am still curious to hear what other brands would sound under my engine setup. I've heard that the crossflow flowmaster 80 series isn't that great for flow.. so, I dunno.. if I had extra cash to burn, I'd consider a different brand.

I don't think you can beat the price of the Flows when comparing to the Edelbrock. Hooker is a different story. They're a little more competitive. I'd also trust the fitment/quality of the Flows and Hooker more than the Edelbrock. My Flows fit nicely, and will have a deeper sound once I find a few more cubes.
