ehh which spark plug wires?
I replaced the old ac delcos i had in the firebird to new ones and it runs a hell of alot better, but what spark plug wires should I go with?

i meant i replaced the sparkplugs...the wires are shot they're cracked, burned and what not....i have bosh magnacore 8mm ones...should i just buy a new pair of those?

Everyone has a favorite this or that, and there are alot of people that have had bad experiences with certain brands / products, and that influences them enough to tell everyone else not to use them...
As for spark plug wires...it depends on which way you want to go. Do you have headers? If not, you may just want to get a "custom" set that's already cut to fit your car, and follows the factory routing.
Personally, I like using the universal sets. I like being able to route the wires how I want them routed, especially since I normally run headers on just about everything.
My preference is with the Taylor Spiro Pro wires. They are 8mm, cut to fit. The boots sort of lock on, but the boot at the spark plug side is VERY strong, and isn't prone to coming off when yanking on 'em.
Their 90 degree boots also seem to be a little more low profile than other manufacturers, so this helps also with headers.
In fact, last night I just ordered a set of red Taylor Spiro Pro wires, and a set of Made for U wire looms for centerbolt valvecovers. They will be going on this weekend.

absolutely- and it really is preference.
I have a set of accel 8's on mine, but i think i will definately be going with a set of taylor or msd wires next. Definately go with the cut your own type kits- i prefer to be able to route them the way i like.

As far as brand, my preference is Accel, mostly because they were in stock, and relatively cheap (like 5 dollars less) and were 8.8s, just to say I had the biggest out there (I don't honestly think it makes any difference at all) but the self-cut ones are defenitly the way to go. MSD has cornered the market for the cutter and crimper in my mind, but they are all basically the same in function. The accel ones also have the low-profile boots.
If you get a custom set, get the MSD wire insolators that cover the entire wire. They cost around $40, and are well worth it. THey will prevent cutting or scraping of the wire, and look better than dirty wires, as well as keeping the wire safe from headers and other heat sources.

Taylor SpiroPro's are the best I've had and the SpiroPro reduces interference with electronics which is great for our fuel injected cars. Not to mention they also have a good heat resistance.

I prefer MSD's. I had the Moroso blue max on my car and switched to the MSD 8.5's. The car seemed to idle a little smoother and the throttle response seemed just a bit better.

No matetr what peopel say, most all wiores perform the same. Sure, if u have 500+ horsies packed under the hood u want some race wires, but race wires will make your radio reception get interfered with. For street applications, any wires with good heat rating can be used. BUT ONLY BUY NAME BRAND WIRES!. some wires melt easily if they are constructed cheaply. The popular wire seems to be those spiral core wire. I use super conductor MSD i got for 58 bux. They work well.
Absolutely right...
But the difference is int the details. I've always like the Taylor wire because the spark plug boot is beefier than other brands, but it's also more low profile for more header tube clearance.

I run the stock ac/delco units with no problems. My 92 z is lightly modded, so the need for hi-po wires are not needed. Now when I stepup to the plate and dump some serious cash into the car then I will slap some heavy duty wires on there. But for now stock works for me...

Just got a set of Accel Armor Shield Performance Wires from Summit (8mm), anyone have any experiance with these? The new Flowtech Headers fryed the crappy cheapo ones they guy who had this car before us put in. I also ordered the Made For You wire loom kit (insurance), and header Jackets (I had a paycheck I just needed to blow, and a starter I wanted to keep). With this I shouldn't be burning wires right?

I like Moroso Blue Max wires the best. Have used Accel and Taylor and those seem good as well.

I did have Crane Cams 8mm wires and now I have MSD 8.5mm wires. I can't tell if there is any advantage over having that extra .5mm, but the wires do a good job of not being melted like some of the Accel wires.
I had to crimp and cut the wires myself and it was pretty easy and its working just fine. If I had to buy another set of wires I would get MSD again.
