flowmasters and hedman?

i'm runnin into some extra cash and i'd like to replace the stock exhaust on my 86 Z. what do yall think of flowmaster 40's and hedman headers? i'm also thinking of 3" pipes, is that too big? one more thing, what does an 85' TPI make as far as HP? (bone stock)??? I'd like be able to mathmatically calculate my HP once i start adding things on cuz theres not a dyno around here as far as i know

as far as HP.. stock 85 z with a 305 tpi would have 215hp 275torque stock. as far as the headers.. depending on them you could get some hp out of them. as far as the flowmasters i have the 40 series on my 84 trans am and it sounds nice but i don't think any gain in power. they also make edlebrock headers that make it much easier for the third gens cause it's 2 headers into one pipe since there is only one spot for one muffler. so i would go with them if money isn't much of a deal, they're around 300 bucks.

a 3 inch intermediate pipe would be good

did you check into the hooker headers at all?

I'd go with Hooker headers into a Hooker cat-back, I think you're giong to be surprised at the work involved to run true duals.

I advise you search for dual exhaust on the exhaust board before attempting it, SPECIALLY if you want to have it exit the rear.

well i was thinkin headers and flowmaster cat back, i'm not doing the work myself (wish i could take the time to learn but i dont have the equipment or the time with school and all) so i might just had to bite the bullit and take it to the guy that i usually have to my exhaust work.
