why does everyone hate Fram?

K & N just plain flows better, so why buy an inferior product for other reasons than price. I read an article where fram flowed just as good as the K & N for the first 10 minutes, then it starts to break down and the design is no longer efficient. something like that

At work (Advance Auto Parts) we have a display comparing the puralator filters to "The other leading brand" AKA Fram. You can tell by looking at them that the Fram is not as high of quality.
John Force is not using the same Fram filters that you buy at K-Mart. They are making nice special ones for him. Fram Blows. Use Mobile 1 or K&N filters if you plan on keeping her for the long haul...
The HP-4 and HP-6 are the Nascar filters, guys. You can buy the HP-4 (chevy) and that is pretty much all I ever use.
The FRAM over-the-counter "regular" filters are not as good at getting the small particles out.
I believe the HP-6 is custom/non-OEM.

Fram filters blow out on my 87Z within five minutes and start leaking from the top seal. I've tried 5 or 6 em, all the same. Must be the high pressure oil pump I guess. Bosch filters run 100% so far. I don't think I'll be buying Fram filters anymore...

I don't use Fram because they aren't replacement GM parts, like AC/Delco is.

I used to use the long AC Delco PF-35L filter until they changed the design and/or manufacturer and it wasn't any better than a regular PF-35 filter. Then I used the Mobil synthetic filter for a couple years until the store I was buying them (K-mart) from stopped carrying them, and they were the only place around here with them. Now I'm using the AC Delco Ultragard PF1792? filter that's long like the PF-35L and has a synthetic element. Look up the truck applications for the regular Duragard number, then use that number with a different prefix in front for the Ultragard number.

On my inline tranny filter I had a fram and it leaked like a mother. I wanted to go with an AC filter but I couldnt find a PF-2 so I went with a Ford FL1A and wham the leaking stopped. Fram does stink big time.

Personally, I use the System 1 oil filter I got thru Summit a few years ago. Never let me down since, and reusable too! Costs more to get, but I change oil every 3k, and I've gotten every bit of my money out of this and more.
I have never personally had a problem with Fram. One thing that I look at is my parents 92 GMC Safari van. This thing has 315,000 miles on it and has only had the alternator and waterpump replaced. It has never even had a valve cover off. They have used nothing but....gasp!!! Fram filters and bulk 10w30 quaker state. The tranny (700R4) has had 3 "oil changes" and used fram filters in it every time...the tranny is still good after 315,000 miles. Now you tell me...frams are junk, but I have proof otherwise

I have always stayed with A/C Delco filters and NEVER had any problems...Ive heard fram was no good so I never bought them...interesting enough...a few months ago I bought a 91 Chevy Lumina Eurosport for a 2nd car and when i picked it up from the dealer, the oil pressure was always 80 PSI and sometimes dropped down to 60 PSI...I was worried...
I had thoroughly checked out the car before I bought it and it was fine..
So I called them and asked them if they did any work to the car and they said they changed my oil and filters etc...sure enough I look under the hood far down and seen a FRAM orange oil filter there...I did another oil change and went back to A/C Delco and now it never goes that high anymore.
Oil pressure is normal again...car runs great..I was really pissed they used that POS filter on this car.
Can you imagine driving a car and seeing the oil pressure 80 PSI all the damn time?
I knew something was wrong.
Thank God I went back to Delco before it was too late...who knows what wouldve happened if I didnt ay attention to the oil pressure guage.
