hypertech chip
Hi,
I have a Trans Am -85 with a LG4 motor 155hp. According to Hypertech I will gain 15 hp using their Thermomaster chip. Does anybody have experience with this chip or something similar? Im not quite sure that the engine is completely unmodified. Is there a risk that I damage something if I install the chip if the engine isnt stock?
Thanks for reply

THERMOMASTER POWER CHIP HYPERTECH # 122362

I have their thermomaster chip in my car. While not a REAL burn burner, with the other mods I have made and what they recommend, (160 degree thermostat (mine is 170); 3" cat back exhaust) I have noticed a marked improvement in off the line acceleration and WOT driving. Anyone who has a 305 TBI that is stock in one of these cars knows what a dog they can be.
call Hypertech @ 1-901-382-8888 or visit them @ http://www.hypertech.com
I do not believe performance mods (existing or added later) make any difference in the chip and how it manages your engine. Hypertech does warn you that if you take your vehicle in for service, "you must first remove the hypertech Power Chip to restore the stock programming. This is because diagnostic devices expect to find stock calibrations, and will often overwrite the program if the latest calibration is not found in the computer memory. This will result in the loss of your Hypertech Power Tuning data."
I hope this helps somewhat.
