If you do a search, you'll get like 10,000 posts. You only have two choices. Hooker or Headman. They're the only companys that make long tubes(LT's) for the 3rdgen. If you have a stock style(sideways mounted) manual trans, then you only have one choice, Hooker. The Hooker's are 1 3/4 primary, the Headman's are 1 5/8. Unless you're high compression, decent rpm(about6k) and aftermarket heads, cam, etc, the Headmans will do everything you'll ever need. If you're the above(sweeeettt power) then the bigger primary's are nice.

later, justin

I just bought a set of Hedman Hedders (the long tubes) for my firebird, havnt run the car at all (engine and tranny are still waiting to go in), but the headers look great! I'm sure they'll be more than enough for what my engines gonna be making....and the price cant be beat, i sold a set of used edelbrock headers for more than it costs to buy these hedmans!

my 305 has had hedman longtubes for about 2 years now and it runs consisten 13.70's and has potential to run 13.3's or faster. my father also runs the hedmans and is running 11.7/6's.

Thanks for the input.. My main concern was how well they fit.. I had a set of supposedly "summit" full lengths for 82-92 camaro given to me.. But the passenger side doesn't clear the A arm properly. So i'm lookin for a new set and may have a chance to pick up a set of hooker super comps for a really good price..

sounds like the hedmans. they fit fine after you take a sawzall to the a-arm perch. you'll also have to dent one of the primaries *slightly* to clear the k-member on the drivers side.

Any pics of this process available? Would like to find a set of full lengths that don't require extensive mods..

it's not extensive at all, all you have to do is just grind or cut about an inch or two off the corner of one of the perches. it's really easy. i have thrown these things in two cars now in under an hour. you'll have to make a small dimple in one of the primaries also on the driver's side. you cannot go wrong with these headers, especially for the money. you need get under the hood and try to put these things in if you really want to know what needs to be modified.

Does anyone know if you have to make adjustments for the Hookers?

yes there are a couple fitment issues.

the thread i was refering to would benifit you greatly
it's not hard to install them but can take some time.
if you look in the exhaust forum i believe there is a sticky
on it. if you read it first you can make the adjustments before trying to fit them save you lots of time.

sorry for the short prev answer.

It's not a problem. Thanks for telling me about the sticky. I am not ready for any installs yet. I was just curious. I will go with hooker because I need the 1 3/4. It will benefit me more than 1 5/8.

Thanks.. Actually just picked up a set of super comps for $150 friday night.. They only had a few passes on them and the car was sold to this guy.. And this guy runs a big block so he had no use for them... dam was I happy.. Looks like these aren't gonna be nearly as pain in the *** as the summit's..
