For those of you using the ACDelco PF1218 oil filter
Just wanted to pass this along, I changed the oil in my Formula yesterday and when I went to put the filter on it wouldn't thread onto the fitting properly. I checked the threads on the filter and they were cut off center and actually looked like two different threads. I went back to the parts store to get another and the next two filters of the same brand and p/n had the same problem. I also found out that from time to time ACDelco will produce a run of the old style PF1218 that we knew as the PF35. My local Advance had some so I picked up an extra along with the one to finish my oil change. Also, FYI Mobil 1 has a filter that matches the PF35/PF1218 under p/n M302. Same extra capacity as the PF35 but at 99.4% filtration and the $10+ price tag.

The 1218 isn't exactly the same as the PF35. The 1218 also has an anti-drainback valve that I don't think the PF35 has.
K&N also has a filter, which I believe is the same filter as the Mobil 1 filter, but it has a nut on the bottom of it which makes removal a lot easier. They're about $10 also, and I think the part number is 3002 for the 1218 replacement.

The 1218 was the same PF35 initially when AC Delco changes all their part numbers but it has since been redesigned

I thought something was not right when I changed the oil/filter in my truck last week. The filter went on ok but did not "spin freely" if you will like it nornally does. Guess I was not crazy.
