Re: a/c delete pully?

You won't gain any HP by removing you're AC as the engine only drives the AC pulley when the AC is actually on. Its more of a clean up under your hood, and shave 40 pounds off the car thing.

Re: a/c delete pully?

I guess get that and some nice chrome valve covers and it would be cool.

Re: a/c delete pully?

Its especially helpful to have it removed if you're installing headers. I still had my AC when we did my headers last year and what a pain in the ***.

Yuck, and more Yuck, I hate the way AC delete pulleys look, and chrome covers are so 70's, if you must delete the AC at least do it where it looks good, there are pulley systems that let you delete the AC without having that ugly delete pulley on there.

Re: a/c delete pully?

Here is just one that I know of http://www.marchperf.com/index.html, search and you can find more I'm sure... Price is not cheap, but something can be made to work with stock parts and a little fab. work.

Re: a/c delete pully?

Buy a few tools and a good drill press and you can make your own brackets for cheap to use stock pulleys, just takes some skill and time. Then you can make all kinds of other things too.

Very few are these days, it's going to be the downfall of the country when nobody here knows how to make anything anymore.

Re: a/c delete pully?

I didn't use a delete pulley on mine. I have the 3.1 V6 and I just removed the A/C compressor and used a shorter belt. I'm not positive about the V8's, but for the V6's there is a belt you can get at Advance Auto, Autozone, etc that was used on 1989 V6's that came from the factory with no A/C. I don't see why it wouldn't work on a V8 but you would have to measure for it first. The one I used was 86" long. Also, I'm not sure which side your A/C is on, mine was on the driver's side. I don't know if that will make a difference or not.

Re: a/c delete pully?

V8's NEED a pulley if using the stock serpentine setup. You can remove smog without a delete, but not AC.

Not really an old timer, but been a machinist for 20+ years so I'd rather make something than buy something if at all possible.
